Thomas Davis is under contract for 2011

According to ESPN’s John Clayton, a little-known-rule from 2010 has taken Davis off the market. Since he spent the entire 2010 season on the physically-unable-to-perform (PUP) list, Davis’ 2010 contract terms have tolled over to 2011.

Clayton reports that Davis remains under contract for $3.268 million in 2011. He missed all of 2010 after suffering a major knee injury during offseason workouts. Davis also suffered a knee injury in 2009 and was recovering when he injured it again.

Clayton says a source said the team wants to sign Davis to a long-term contract. When healthy, Davis is viewed as one of the league’s top outside linebackers. If he can get back to full speed, Carolina could have one of the league’s top linebacker groups.

Although the world assumed Carolina linebacker Thomas Davis would be an unrestricted free agent, it turns out he’s not.

Woo hoo?

Figured he be back anyway, might be a good chance to see how he does before a significant extention.

Agree. While I am thrilled he will be here, you can't help but think he could be Dan Morgan V2. Let's hope for the best because he is great when healthy.

    • The last time the offense saw the field we were up in points in a playoff game. The defense then allowed the most humiliatingly easy scoring drive in NFL history. So... the coaching staff needs the most help tbh.
    • https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart.asp   19 is valued at 875. 16 @ 1000 Our higher 5th round pick is @ 28.2  It would take our 3rd to really do anything with. Maybe the 4th plus a 5th.
    • After talking to a bunch of you it seems the overwhelming majority of y'all would like to see our first round pick use them defense because we have went offense and receiver at that two of the last 3 years. But I posed a simple question what is the reason we lost to the Rams and after free agency and all the money we've been spending which side of the ball do you think is in need of more upgrades?  I don't think just because you drafted a specific position repeatedly doesn't mean you shouldn't draft that position again if it's still a weakness I think if you swing it back and you strike out and or miss you have to get up there and take another swing personally I think the offense is much worse off than the defense there's more Star power on defense than offense.  Legette was a legitimately amiss and a bus so we have to just watch the thought of him out of the way we are still without a certified number two and arguably Coker could be that but I'd rather he be a number 3 and we lack a field stretching speed option and a legitimate starting tight end we don't really know what we have at RB outside of tuba so I think the offense is bigger? Than the defense which was average last season.
