hahaha, he isnt sticking it to anyone, he's just not as intersted in #2 as much as people think. IF he was, then he would have it right now, but he didnt want to do a deal for a number, he felt like it isnt important and it isnt. number 1 is a surprise to me (i thought he would go with 5 or 13), but oh well, it's just a number.

If it was an unspoken rule before (and I'm with teeray, I've heard it repeated often enough but never by anyone who would actually know) then I'd say it's a big statement by JR to let Cam wear #1. Says "we're entering a new era, you're our highest drafted QB. Now make me proud and go win me some GD games."

This stuff about "wah I don't think anyone should wear #1 because that number's for the fans!" is lame. Not trying to single anyone out, but that whole concept is a bit weak, in my opinion. The fans aren't on the gd field. If the fans need a number, give us # A BAJILLION to represent the amount of money we support them with.

Whatever makes our #1 overall pick happy makes me happy. A happy employee is a productive employee.

So far, it is a "tbd" on Panthers.com and for some reason, I don't wanna look like an idiot wearing a #1 Newton if he does not get that number.
