Kasay is NOT retiring, has NOT been cut

Marty Hurney called Kasay to inform him of the Mare signing today according to Steve Reed as a heads-up. Hurney told Reed that Kasay has plans to continue playing in the league.

Kasay is going to be cut if he's not retiring. We signed Mare so we didn't need to carry two kickers.

How about some respect, Marty?

Eh? They showed him plenty of respect, even notifying him of their plans *before* carrying them out:

The Panthers made contact with K John Kasay to tell them of their plans to add a kicker before they actually did it. Class move.

This is a business... and this team is moving in a new direction. With the new rules they wanted to go with a new kicker. Mare is a good one, and while he'll never replace Kasay in our hearts, I think it's a good time to move on.

I think it's crap we couldn't have signed a kicker better than Kasay.

Mare is better than Kasay is right now in all likelihood - I think he supposedly has been over the last few years too.

    • Naw we are a few years away IMO.  I am not banking on the defensive pieces we added to put us in some playoff situation next season.   This defense was incredibly bad last year and it still needs more talent
    • I think in all honestly, the final 2 games are carrying most of the weight in a lot of Bryce talk IMO.    During the window where he "blew it out of the water" window......were a lot of games where he was not above average.  AZ is largely one of those stat sheet games.   Where the stat sheet reflects QB play that didn't exist in the game.  That game was all Chuba.  Meh vs Dallas.  Meh vs Philly.  Meh vs Giants.  Probably average vs Tampa, Den, Saints.  Bryce made HUGE strides vs what he was.  We should be happy.   But when you start comparing him to the rest of the league.....people I think are going too far.  His best aspect in reality.....is his scrambling.  And that's probably not a great thing give his size.
    • Mays and Zavala looked lost in the Reich offense.  Granted Zalava was probably playing too soon due to injuries but he looked terrible.  This new staff seems to be doing well with our OL.  I also wonder if having two vets in Hunt and Lewis just made life that much easier on whoever was/is playing center.
