QB starter per Lombardi

I think some will be surprised w/ DA. You gotta remember, QBs are best suited for different offenses. DA didn't fit IMO well in AZ. After watching years of Delhomme.....and what occured last year.....DA will probably remind many of some of the "good" Jake. Not his attitude and all that stuff but just pure QB play.

...on the other hand, like Baldinger just said on NFLN if Cam is even close to performing as well as Clausen or DA you should go with him.

Baldinger made a good point: on 3rd down when the Panthers spread it out 4 wide with Cam in the shotgun, are you going to put 6 DB's on the field with Cam's size/ability?

It's hard for me to wrap my head around all the possibilities with a QB like Cam, we've never had anything like it.

I think most of the arguments about Cam around here are based on Cam being "just another NFL rookie QB." He isn't. You never put more than 5 DBs on the field against Newton. Too big and too fast. If you put 6 DBs in, YOU BETTER be zone blitzing. Otherwise, you're screwed. Cam is a different breed of player, if utilized appropriately. I am so pumped for the 13th. Only a little over a week away!

just on NFL channel...

Lombardi answers the question of who will start by saying it will probably be DA due to familiarity with Chud's offense but Cam should get in there asap as DA's accuracy is a huge question and our offense will struggle with him. No mention of JC as a possible starter.

This is kind of what I thought on the thread yesterday about who may start next Friday and how many reps they will get.

DA's accuracy? Is it worse than CAM's accuracy issues? I'd imagine DA would have a huge advantage since he did ride Chud's system to a pro bowl appearance. I'd say his experience within the system is huge compared to a guy who is taking is first practice snaps in the NFL and has never played a down in a real game yet.

I would imagine, barring injury, DA will start the whole season unless we go 1-7 in the first half of the season. It would be best for Cam to watch and learn. We saw first hand what throwing a young player to the wolves can do last season with Jimmy. Why do it if we don't have to. Nobody can realistically expect us to make the playoffs this year anyway so why not use up DA this year to show Cam how the system is run.

I'm all for DA running the show for a season. Who knows, he could go all "Kurt Warner" on our ass and take us to a superbowl. Wasn't Warner supposed to just be a teacher and groom the next great thing in Arizona?

Dumbest post I have ever read.

Right now, Cam is nothing BUT another Rookie QB.

These posts are exactly why the Cam Slurping Club sound so fuging ridiculous.

    • I don't necessarily think he will be moved, I would currently be leaning against that notion. I think a lot will depend on the coaching situation. Carroll certainly can't be thinking about wanting to go through a serious strip down and overhaul, so the longer he plans to remain, the less likely I think Crosby gets moved.
    • I think everyone says Mike Evans because of size, but really they have different strengths and play styles.  Tmac is better on intermediate routes and not nearly as good at contested catches.
    • At this point, it is criminal to go into the 2026 training camp/OTA's with XL penciled in as a #2 WR. The team must upgrade, either through free agency or the draft. If he cannot give 100% effort on significantly less snaps as a #4-6 WR(players like Tremayne have done that consistently) then I don't think you have a player worth rostering beyond the trade deadline. Offensively, we eventually have to upgrade to an NFL starting caliber C. It's been almost the length of time from Gross to Ikey since Kalil retired and we have below average to terrible C play. Love Mays as a BC-esque utility backup but he will never be an above average long term starting C.  The TE room is one of the worst in the NFL but it's a low usage position in this offense, so the investments are likely to be small, if any. I would never expect to see an elite TE in a Dave Canales offense. 100% agree on OL depth. We actually aren't bad there but BC will be gone, Mays is a UFA, Corbett is a UFA and Zavala has been both injured and bad. We have to bolster that depth again or resign guys like Mays and Corbett to keep that depth somewhat stable.
