i wanted luck but Cam was 2nd.dont understand why some of you would rather have anything but a QB knowing that postion was big ? at the time. i thought you go to college to get a job, and if your job is to be a QB than.......

In all fairness, JaMarcus Russell had a cannon for an arm in a vertical passing game.

While I regret my earlier comparisons between the two and Newton has taken great strides to make me a believer it's as silly as it is premature to think anyone knows what Newton or Luck are going to turn into on the field.

Silly no, premature, maybe. I'd hate to be that safety or CB that has to try to tackle this beast shooting through the line. He brings an element to the game that Jake nor Jimmy could not, and I really liked Jake. Oh yeah Cam can throw pretty good too. :crazy:

We haven't seen an athlete with this size and speed that could play QB, there really aren't many individual comparisons, like Weinke said "Big Ben/Vick"

So the panthers were dead last in passing and they draft a QB known more for his running ability??

Just because he's "known" for one thing doesn't mean he can't do the other.

Cam actually had a 66% completion percentile, passed for over 2800 yds and had at least twice as many passing TD's as he had rushing TD's. (The number escapes me.) Its not like he's not a pass first QB. He just happens to have the ability that if there's nothing there, he's fast enough to make something happen. Most QB's are pass first, throw away if there's nothing there. Cam is a pass first, run second, or throw away third QB. I don't see how this is such a problem. Where's the downside to this?

I think it was more guessing a free agent could have been signed at QB, while picking up a stud at CB or DT. I like the potential Cam has for us though. Thinking of the FA's that were available, makes no sense...glad I'm not in charge.

Funny...I guess there isn't any 6' 5" white QBs with an arm like Cam and as athletic, with great success in the NFL that he could have been compared too. Many in the media seemed quite reluctant to even want to compare

Cam to Ben Rothleisburger but automatically and with glee, remind folks of the failed black QBs that came before him by constantly comparing Cam to them. While some of those same folks automatically sent QBs like Blaine and Luck, with their "All American QB" looks, to the head of the QB class without much scrutiny.
