How long should Cam play on Thursday?

They need to bench Cam and play Jimmy the four quarters since many of u wanna-be football coaches and experts feel Cam should sit for a year so he can learn. Let Jimmy start and play all four quarters so he can be prepared to start the season.

Cause base on all the harping over every little thing that someone finds wrong with Cam and is using as rational for the Panther's bad play, Cam "simply" isn't ready. He has gone three preseason without tossing a TD...Oh my GOSH...that must be a FIRST in the history of the NFL

Play Cam based on production, not the amount of time that his ticked off the game clock. If our starting defense cannot get stops, then Cam needs to play at least the entire first half to get enough reps.

Please let us win the coin toss, to at least allow for two first quarter possessions.

A friendly word of advice...

Every one of your posts do not have to deal with the persecution of Cam, a good deal of which is just not grounded in reality.

Very quickly, people learn to ignore everything you say because they know you are overboard on this issue. And I am sure you have other things worthy of discussion.

Just an observation...

I want to see a gameplan centric around getting Cam out of the pocket. He seems much more comfortable rolling out to me than he does as a statue in the pocket. I know we're going to want him to eventually make all of his reads from the pocket, but while he's learning to read defenses I see nothing wrong with keeping teams honest by using the threat of his legs more. I think play calling in the regular season for Cam will look a lot different than it has in the preseason. No reason not to let him use his legs on some DESIGNED plays as opposed to expecting him to improv the entire time.

He couldn't throw one against the second worst team in the NFL last week.

And when he does get his thowing TD against a very good team what will be ur new issue with him? It's clear many of u can't seem to stop finding enough things wrong with Cam to criticize him about. Gee I wonder why...

When I read the numbers being put by such media hailed Pro QBs like Matt Ryan 22/42 in one half for a little over 200 yards with one td and int in last nights preseason game against Pittsburgh, it puts into prespective how overly critical many of u are towards Cam, a rookie. So many throws, for so many yards and only one TD in one half inning..Bring on the excuses..

I guess if the Panthers' D-line had gotten back the ball from the opposing team more quickly Cam would have had enough time to get at least one throwing TD just like Matt Ryan did. Especially since he did put a few good throws out there that landed in receivers hands that they drop but it's not their fault.

word of advice when dealing with cam detractors

Bad QB play? Cam's fault. Bad DT play? Cam's fault. WR/TE caught a pass? He did it in spite of Cam.

Also, when dealing with blind homer's who can't take off their rose colored glasses long enough to see that his mechanics and accuracy are shithouse right now, remember...

Cam airs a ball 10 yards past an open WR, Oline's fault. Cam stubbing Smitty's toe on a slant pass, Oline's fault. Cam rolling out the pocket and, with nobody around him, throwing so far off his back foot the ha almost fell down, Oline's fault. Cam runs it in for a TD, what Oline? Nobody blocked for him. Cam throws to a wide open TE, on an all out blitz, who has to make a circus grab to snag it in. What Oline? Cammy Cam blocked all eight guys himself and still got the ball off.

I have no idea why so many people refuse to accept how bad his mechanics and accuracy are right now. Watch the games, its right there on the tape.

The good thing is, all those things can be taught with time. Is Shula gonna teach Jimmy to be taller or have a stronger arm? No. Is he gonna teach Anderson to not take this poo so seriously? No. But, given time he can teach Cammy Cam proper NFL mechanics, and hopefully, the accuracy will come with it.

Serious question, did you join the board just to defend Cam? If so why, since you aren't a Panther fan?

    • This play was never designed to go to either DJ or Odunze. The primary read is Burden who is stymied early, with the outlet being Kmet if Caleb doesn't like the option for Burden. Given the situation it's pretty obvious the simple play is to take the free yards with Kmet, or if you want to be aggressive just wait a beat longer for Burden to uncover on his double move. If Moore was ever going to be a viable target in this play then Caleb should have started out reading Odunze to hold the safety in the middle and then coming to Moore, but because he started the snap staring down the right and then came back to the middle late it made it where the safety's leverage remained to the outside of Moore, so he would never have imagined that pass actually being thrown to him in that situation. Realistically DJ's best option in that context is to just occupy the safety to leave a hole open for Caleb to get it to Burden, which is probably why he throttles down vs carrying the safety across.
    • Even with Sonny Styles still on the board I thought it's a no brainer to address the Oline after Icky's injury.  And how can you pass up Fano at 19 given our situation. Then the rest of the draft just kind of made sense with maybe the exception of Klubnik.  But if Canales can fix him and Young goes down. . .I think it's a solid pick. What do you think of this draft?
