Take the Cam Newton pledge...

TRD won't be able to get behind any or our QBs until he gets out from behind Matt Moore.

PS yes I realize bugging you over Matt Moore has become lame but I have nothing else to add

Seems like the kind of thing Zod mentioned wasn't going to be allowed anymore.

Be careful...

I do hereby pledge that Cam Newton has my full support as the Carolina Panthers starting quarterback. The fact that I did has no bearing on my decision to live in reality and realize Cam is the biggest hope for a franchise QB that we have ever had.

In addition, I realize Cam will at times struggle, and promise not to throw him under the bus at any given opportunity. I understand that Cam is here under a multi year plan, and not a 6 week plan.

By accepting this pledge, your Matt Moore pledge started by some knuckle head last season is null and void.

If he starts, he has my support. I will go on record as saying that it would have been nice for JC to have this kind of support.

Also for the record, what I want more than QB play right now is OL and DL play. If the preseason games are any indication, it won't matter who lines up behind center. Color me severely disappointed by the big uglies so far

I support him as much as I supported Frank Reich, Kerry Collins, Steve Buerlien, Chris Weinke, Rodney Peete, Jake Delhomme, David Carr, Matt Moore, Jimmy Clausen...

Wow, we've had some really mediocre-to-awful quarterbacks in our history. I mean, I knew we did, but just seeing them in writing makes it soul-sucking.

I pledge my support to the TEAM. I disagree that Cam Newton is the biggest hope for a franchise QB. I do agree that he is the LATEST hope for a franchise QB. I will pull for him and earnestly hope for him to improve and develop into the QB we all hope he will become. I can not promise that I will not have an 'I told you so' moment at a later date, but I will do my best to ensure that moment is short-lived. I can promise that I will provide both praise and criticism of Cam Newton as appropriate but point out that criticism does not mean that one is not pulling for an individual. I promise not to heap undue criticism or praise on Cam, as well. Finally....I, by the way, did not take any Matt Moore pledge, either.

    • I’ve rarely ever been more sure of anything than losing out — but how can anyone say with a straight face “Bryce hasn’t improved, but Canales has and he’s masks his flaws”. You have to be so out of touch with reality to put one way above the other when discussing those two.
    • Last night was the classic example of a visiting team just holding on through the wave of emotion a home team has at the start of a big time game. Bama’s first two kickoff returns really set them back as far as playcalling and allowed OU to dictate field position. The emotion of the home crowd fed into what OU was doing at that point, and it felt like Bama would not be able to overcome that.     Once the kickoff returner was told to fair catch every kick, the game shifted, as Bama wasn’t starting each drive inside their own 15. It was then that Bama was able to make some plays, outscoring OU 34-7 the rest of the way.  I think the last 3/4 of the game proves Bama was the better team. OU was just able to ride the initial wave of emotion to a big lead, but Bama held on just enough.  However, had OU blocked the punt on Bama’s second drive and scored a TD (vice a FG on the ensuing drive), things likely would have been different.  Anyway, Roll Tide!
