Cam's throw to Shockey was amazing!!

Not the TD throw; the incompletion when Cam was nearly sacked, got his legs rapped up, and then threw the ball 27 yards down field, on a rope, with no legs, while falling down to Shockey who was interfered with (which wasn't called) or else it damn well cold have been a completion.

It clearly wasn't Cam's best decision of the night. But looking back on the throw, to throw the ball with that much velocity, 27 yards down field, without his legs, and in a game situation, is simply incredible

It is around the 2:40 mark of this clip.

Another cool little thing I noticed is on the very next play when Newton breaks off a 20 yard run Steve Smith is completely pumped up after the run. He is pumping his fists and talking poo. I love guys like him who get pumped up after big plays even if he isn't the guy with the ball. I love me some Smitty.

he made the right decision.

the days of playing it safe and being a game manager are over. if cam has the ability to make throws like that - which he clearly does - fug taking the sack, if we wanted that we'd start clausen.

personally i look forward to these types of throws in the future.

He made the right decision, but it has nothing to do with being conservative or aggressive. The fact was that the ball was thrown at a great place, the defender didn't turn around in time and there was some interference there. The matchup was good, the risk was actually much smaller than what people think it was. That made my jaw drop.

meh. just another incomplete pass. I get a tad more excited when he completes them. Every QB in the league can make that throw (incompletion.) He did show amazing athletic ability to get the throw off though.

It wasn't an incomplete...Check ur video again. The ball was right at shockley's gut. It looked like the Steeler grab his hand, not knock the ball down.

    • So... what metrics for production do you believe display these issues/limitations best? Are we only using total passing yards, height, and weight thresholds? If so, then what are those thresholds?
    • I mean as far as his size goes it's all over his tape bouncing up and down on his toes in and around the pocket trying to see the field and defenses know this as well as we do but if folks here want to live in never never land and pretend it's not a thing that's their prerogative. Even our head coach has made it a key focal point to get his footwork under control. But it's still something Bryce is going to be tested on early and often no matter how many keystrokes anyone here commits to the narrative it isn't an issue.
    • It speaks volumes that when asked to define a clear performance threshold the responses instead fixate on Bryce's size. It reinforces what’s been clear for a while now... that for some, it has never been nor will it ever be about production. Any struggles will always be chalked up to his frame, and any strong play will be downplayed or disqualified via highly mobile goalposts.
