And I don't just mean FA... After seeing what we have yesterday, I'm excited to see how we look if we get some of our other guys healthy and/or up to speed that are already on the roster.

Primarily, I'm excited to see what Darius Butler does once he becomes familiar with the system. Apparently he played yesterday... I'd have to go back and look at the game and see if I can spot him, but I was looking yesterday and didn't see him. I imagine he was fairly limited. And I've liked Jordan Pugh but we had him lined up in the slot and at CB several times, and he did not look comfortable at all.

Everyone has their own opinion, but I think Gamble did outstanding minus the big pass late he gave up to Fitz at a crucial time.

Munnerlyn did a great job as well.

If we can get Butler up to speed, I'm excited to see how these guys look together and how we move them around in expected passing situations.

Another guy to look out for is CB Josh Thomas. Hurney obviously liked something about him to claim him off waivers when there were other talented, more experienced guys available. He wasn't active yesterday, so look for him as well.

And finally... My sleeper pick since we drafted him (just like I picked Gettis last year), Kealoha Pilares. I can't wait to see what this guy does. Reminds me a lot of Smitty with his YAC ability, and hope to see him get a lot of action.

My FA wishlist:

Would like to see us bring MJG back and/or Leonard Davis. Tommie Harris is a must. Possibly Donnie Avery as well, as every WR outside of Smitty and LaFell didn't impress (not counting TEs, they were awesome), but WR isn't nearly as scary as OL and DL right now.

EDIT: Also, Jerome Felton didn't play yesterday either. Perhaps this is a byproduct of the new scheme/system, as the FB is becoming a rarity in this age with the emphasis on the passing game... But, I suspect they'll find a way to get him on the field to lead block after some of the troubles we had in the run game.

Don't get me wrong, I love the new passing attack, but having a little help to get our run game going can't do anything but help the pass next week. But man, I hope we send a spy to Green Bay to infiltrate their building and destroy all game tape they have of Cam and our offense this week :lol:.

I agree about Gamble. Even the late pass to Fitz wasn't exactly blown coverage or a terrible play, it was a well placed pass to a tall receiver. Gamble was behind him, but he wasn't more than a step behind. I'll say this, Kolb played better today than I expected. I remember seeing Butler make a nice tackle or two, but nothing spectacular in coverage. I don't think he played much.

I disagree about the Captain though. He got abused too much. Early freaking Doucett had his first 100 yard game of his career. Captain was out of position a lot early. Hopefully Butler will get comfortable in the system and turn into a solid #2 so Captain can go back to where he belongs: nickle packages.

I agree about Pilares, I think when he gets the playbook and his route running down he'll be a strong weapon in the slot, but it's just a gut feeling/hopeful thinking.

I think 1 good DT would be nice, but our rookies did better than expected. I honestly feel a competent #2 CB is our biggest need (especially if we're going to be sending the house like we did a few times today) and he may or may not be on the team (Butler). DT would be our #2 need, in my opinion.

I agree that they definitely flashed potential yesterday. But, they also showed their inexperience yesterday.

Add a vet fat guy to the mix and I think DT is OK....need to find another Hollis Thomas type player.

Tommie Harris or Pat Williams is my bet for who we bring in.

I love Pilares as well. I just hope he can be half the player Smith is. I have always wondered why we draft players like Smith (Ryne Robertson,AE)and they never work out. I always figured that the best player to train someone Smiths Size would be Steve Smith.

Steve still plays with a chip on his shoulder. Makes a big difference.

A HUGE chunk of those yards were not Captain's fault.

      Just to clarify: I'm not arguing that height or footwork can’t affect QB play. I'm asking how those concerns translate into measurable, consistent outcomes. That’s the standard we should be applying to all QBs, not just Bryce. If height is such a limitation, then we'd expect to see elevated batted passes or poor pressure evasion. Yet none of that shows up in the data. Bryce was one of the lowest in the league for batted passes and his 16.9 pressure-to-sack ratio is good enough for 9th out of all QBs with 300+ dropbacks. So if you believe footwork tied to height is a meaningful issue, what metric shows that because two that would aren't doing so? This isn't about denying flaws. It's about applying fair, consistent standards because otherwise we’re not evaluating performance which means that it's not analysis taking place... it's just going off of the vibes that somebody has consciously decided on. Citing one red zone play you remember doesn't provide that consistent standard. I don't say that to dismiss your memory, but to emphasize that anecdotal evidence (especially from an avowed skeptic) shouldn’t carry more weight than consistent tape or analytics. For example, there was recently dissonance over Bryce's deep ball accuracy where it was implied that he was inaccurate throwing 20+ yards. Yet, the data and film show otherwise. And I unfortunately have to still ask since you won't directly answer: What specific metrics do you believe matter when evaluating whether a QB is top-10? You've mentioned YPA and passing yards per game, and that's fair. If that's what you're prioritizing, then let's call that your criteria but clarity matters because it prevents moving goalposts when the data doesn’t match one's expectations.       Me too. I got other things I can do. Tie it up 2-2 and I will be back, but Im tired of watching us get swept.
