You said it he was hit in the pocket. The rest is irrelevant. I told everyone he is more likely to be hurt getting from his blind side in the pocket then he ever will be in the open field where he can see it coming. Rushing had nothing to do with it.

If this injury is a warning we better run him more often and roll him out on every play and keep him out of the pocket.

I agree with rolling him out of the pocket when necessary. For starters, the OL played well yesterday. Cam just held onto the ball too long at times.

That said, you can't deny that having your QB run a bounty of designed run plays and exposing him to more hits isn't going to put him at more risk for injury. Let him run when he has too, and maybe throw a designed run once a game or so...But stop sending your Franchise QB up the middle like a FB. It's just stupid. Can't risk your most important player that way. Especially not for 2 and 3 yard gains.

I agree w/ 55.

Cam as a runner past the line of scrimmage is less likely to get hurt vs. when he is in the pocket as a passer.

out of the 2 different type threatsof injury.....he has a better idea of where the blow is coming from when he runs.

I think Cam Newton would be in more pain watching Clausen fill in for him.

You think Newton would be in pain from watching Jimmy?

After this preseason, I came to the conclusion that I can not watch Jimmy Clausen throw another football in a Panther's jersey ever again. If it came down to Jimmy starting over Newton or Anderson, I'd fuging turn the TV off and do something productive. Like washing all my laundry with a toothbrush, or mowing the lawn with scissors.

Coker= should be able to add to the group That's plenty my friend along with two RBs with good hands. I know Dave is not Payton and BY isn't Brejesus. This group can pull off a Chinese copy of it tho......
    • The fact that we're STILL questioning if he should be starting is all that needs to be said.   If this week doesn't turn out well, the boiling point could hit soon.  Don't think 0-3 does it, but it could be soon.  Considering our schedule, it may happen if things fall off the rails.   We have 3 winnable games by week 9.  If we're just sitting 2-7 or 1-8 after the Packers game, that would be near the end point of this situation in its entirety.    It took what, a 1-10 start to can Reich in his first year?  I think a 1-8 start to Bryce in his 3rd would be reasonable to politely end his tenure in Carolina.
    • Pressure or no pressure Bryce Young does not have the arm talent to consistently threaten defenses and open up the whole field. We have seen this throughout his 32 career starts. The Jaguars defense in week 1 only blitzed on 20% of Bryce Young's dropbacks and they still imposed their will and forced 3 turnovers from Bryce Young. I can present you information but if you choose to ignore it and what you are seeing with your own two eyes you are beyond help.
