Since Jake's contract is up after this season, who will be our QB in 2010?

I surprisingly haven't seen a thread about 2010 yet. Sure it's a ways away, but do you think even this Jake-worshiping FO is going to sign a then-35-year-old Jake to another long-term deal? Assuming we don't, just where in the world are we going to get a quarterback from? Are we going to make a play for a Sam Bradford next year? Try our hand at a mid-round quarterback in the vein of Stefan Urkel LeFors? Go after someone like Troy Smith who will be a free agent next year? Or are we going to turn the reins over to McCown or Moore (both of which will be free agents as well next offseason)?

If we keep Peppers they will have to extend Jake to make it through this year with cap room. If they trade peppers they will likely not extend him until after the season to see how he does in 2009.

My prediction, he will have a very good year, they will extend him to 2 more years and by then Moore will take over and be our version of Matt Cassel.

wild guess indeed.......

In all seriousness....

McCown doesn't impress me as a starter.

I've got mixed feelings bout Moore. He showed a little promise, BUT We haven't seen him on the field in awhile, so it's hard to say how much he's developed.

I'm sure one of them will still be on the roster in 2010, I'd say Moore.

Jake will be our qb in 2010.

yep.

like it or not.

it may be his last year but he will still be here and the QB.

will he finish 2010 season as the starting QB? not willing to put a whole lot of faith in that one...could have a peete/delhomme situation there.

The starter opening day 2010 'Pat White'. He will take the snap, hand off to himself, toss the reverse to himself and then throw to himself for a TD.

I do think Moore will get plenty of action this August, like last season. Let the coaches get a good look if he could be the guy. I don't think anyone believes McCown can be the guy.

    • The Bucs waived shilo sanders after he got ejected.
    • I'm just tired of ppl saying he's so accurate and then have to see recievers slow down to recieve the ball, ruining any chance at YAC
    • Some people will really look at stuff like this and say "no more excuses" but then make excuses to try and explain away the validity of big-time throws. 🙃   Back on topic though, as I mentioned in the other AT thread earlier, I hope that the team is still exploring the deal. If the Vikings want the Panthers to take on some of the salary, then it had better be at worst a 4th-round pick (though I imagine Dan angling for a 3rd). If they're willing to take on all of it, then maybe at worst a 5th. Tough pill to swallow, giving up a 4th for a 35yr old WR, but if MIN believes they can have similar success behind McCarthy then it could be a smart deal for them. Hell, if AT has any gas in the tank and gives them a 1yr sweetheart deal to close out at home, even better for Minnesota. Yea, Bryce loses his best and most reliable WR. Hunter Renfrow though isn't what I would call a huge step down though (if he's as advertised throughout camp), and it gives more reps to TMac + XL + Coker. This season is all about continued development and answering some of the looming questions (Is Bryce the guy? Is Evero the DC going fwd? How do the young WRs develop? How long does it take this defense to bounce back from being historically awful?).
