you do realize Cam's worst throws were when it was sunny and down right hot? When he was trying to make throws in good weather against the 2 deep S looks?

the rain from the looks of things the rain saved Cam and aided in his win.

meh...i think he would have turned things around eventually, just like he did when the rain stopped. he and chud just had to make adjustments to what they were doing.

btw...i don't think gabbert gets so lucky with that TD pass if it's not raining.

he was out on the field for one quarter before the monsoon hit lol

i get that he had a few off possessions, but to call it a "bad day" and trying to figure out how he struggled mightily is looking a bit too far into it, ESPECIALLY when he led the team to a victory despite those odds, threw for a touchdown and no interceptions.

depending on what you value in a quarterback, you might call weeks one and two his off days and week three his on day.

they sill have one of the two worst olines in the league right now. as much as this might be a juicy matchup for a mike martz offense, that oline with a QB that is having to make quick passes is still going to keep them down. we keep that pressure on cutler and he won't have time to make those big throws.

that isn't what i'm worried about. the martz offense is irrelevant because they can't run it the way it's intended. the only thing i'm worried about offensively is matt forte.

as far as their cover2 defense...last week was essentially a scrimmage to help cam and the boys get it figured out. the thing that has always been kryptonite for the tampa2 are TEs. they are always weak in the seams. we have two very solid TEs, one of them has a very solid knowledge of their defense, having watched them for 4 years and practicing against them weekly, and we have a QB that is incredibly comfortable throwing to them.

i like our chances.

there it is.

/end thread.

well, if Carolina hadn't given up 4 other absurdly easy passes for HUGE TDs (in a relatively small window)....I might agree.

Other than the standard game planning and film work, I think Shula has given Cam extra work each week on one aspect of his game as part of the learning process.

Against the Jags, I think it was looking off receivers. If you review the game, he did that a lot more than in the first two games. That forces him to make quicker decisions, as you first have to look at the decoy receiver, then shift your eyes to the primary before making the throw. This may have been part of his struggles in the game.

As to the cover 2, this week should tell us if that defense is an ongoing problem for him or just part of gaining experience.

Carolina Panthers pass D

It was painfully obvious week 3 Cam hit a stumbling block (it happens w/ rookies). Was it just a random bad day or was it the rookie struggling w/ something specific.

I think you have to throw out game 3 because it was played in a monsoon. Except when the skies cleared late and Cam lead a 4th quarter game winning TD drive. Money.

Yep, exactly why Sherrod got that EASY interception, the ball didn't have any zip at all.

I don't think you can throw it out.....I think as fans we would like to. But the only time Cam has been asked to throw against that deep 2 S look consistantly.....he really struggled. It is something to watch IMO. Cam looked like preseason Cam until the rain came and made Chud amend the gameplan.

I agree.....

my only internal question was it just an "off" day....or was the conservative coverage impacting Cam and making him more nervous on those throws.

You know, after seeing him for three games, I don't think Cam gets nervous. He has the poise of a 10 year vet back there. I think it was just an off day. Not much seems to rattle the kid.
