Aaron Curry about to be traded

I don't know about you guys but I am convinced that Proudiddy is a better talent evaluator of Aaron Curry and has a better understanding of our team's needs and how they fit into our short-term and long-term plans than our GM, coaches, and scouts.

Sorry Prouddidy. Just sayin...have a little faith. I have my momnents where I scratch my head and am convinced that I could have made a better decision than the front office. But most of the time (and as I've said before), I remember that there's a reason why I drink beer, eat wings, and yell at the TV while these guys are running a professional football team.

Greg Hardy is better than Curry and we got him late. In fact, most players are better than Curry. Quit acting like we missed out on a pro-bowler.

I'm not going to say that I think Curry was an all-star, but the Greg Hardy situation is very different, and thus, incomparable.

We got Hardy late because he had been involved in a horrible car accident before his last season of college football, and everyone was unsure of how well he was going to actually play. Before that car crash, he was widely considered one of the best DE prospects in college football.

The wreck had an effect on his last year of college, causing him to be under-productive, and people decided to pass on him.

Everyone keeps thinking Greg Hardy was some unknown quantity from some D-II school, but he wasn't. He was a highly touted player in college football, that ran across some bad luck. He just happened to be there in the draft when we took him. He wasn't an unknown quantity, though.

I'm aware of Greg Hardy's backstory. The guy over at NFLdraftcountdown was talking about him forever. It doesn't change the fact that we could get a good player with a late pick and a mid rounder.

In fairness, I did say Cam would be a franchise player and possibly one like we've never seen before. I also said Andy Dalton would be good. I also said Colt McCoy would probably be the best QB out of last years drafts, all before they played a game in the NFL.

So, at least I have the QB market down.

That being said, I get everyone's general sentiment about it, but the homer part of me feels like we're one more solid defender away from winning A LOT of games. Whether it be DT or LB, I feel like if we brought in another starting caliber guy there, it's gonna put a band-aid on a lot of the holes we're seeing out there right now and could put us in a much better position at the end of the year than everyone is predicting.

I hear you. I just think everyone around here still thinks of Curry as a better player than he is because we watched him dominate down the street at wake and his below-average professional career was hidden away in Seattle.

This team is clearly close to winning some games, but I just don't see this guy as the missing piece. And I think Hurney knows when a guy can play linebacker (Witherspoon, Beason, Davis, Anderson, Connor). I trust he could evaluate if the guy had something and was incorrectly used.

If you remove the #4 overall pick label from the equation, is better than anything we have at LB now except for Anderson. Our inability to get sideline to sideline b/c of lack of athleticism at the LB spot (again, except for Anderson) has been killing us.

That's why we should've made the move.

While Hurney has gotten some awesome late round gems - Hardy, for one... You probably aren't going to find a LB with Curry's athleticism in the corresponding round that we would give up in a trade. It was worth it IMO.

Even if you can argue that he is worth the picks you can't overlook the fact that Rivera and McDermott likely didn't think he'd fit the defense.

People keep saying "but Seattle released him etc." ...You do realize players end up in dog houses all of the time; systems don't fit them and other things. If that's the case Peyton Hillis sucked, and so did Randy Moss (in which case ppl would have said "HE GOT TRADED FROM THE Raiders he must suck!)

    • I understand why people say things like it could be worse in relation to Tepper but it just doesn't jive for me. Are the optics bad? Yes. Would I want her to be the owner of my team? No. But I mean she's only been owner for a year and the Colts overall are a better run organization. As far as I know they've also never had the distinction of having the worst win percentage in all of professional sports either. Tepper has owned this team for 8 years and about the only thing that has been consistent has been the ability to continue to find different ways to achieve new lows. Even now people are saying things are different yada yada but we said these same things at certain points under Rhule Fitterer and Reich. I'm going to wait to see how the rubber meets the road this upcoming season before I make any strong conclusions about anything in relation to the longevity under this franchise going forward.
    • This is a toughie because I wonder what a guy like Canales thinks about redemption stories for addiction issues. Also, I think this is a case of 1 player getting caught, and not being naive enough to think this isn't more common in college than we think. I'd toss a 3rd rounder out there. 2026 is essentially a redshirt season regardless, so he's not taking over for any NFL QB next year. Best case, he's ready to go in 2027 if we pass on Bryce's extension. Worst case, he's our future backup QB2. Kid has the tools to be an NFL QB. I do think we could somehow land a '26 3rd round pick back in a trade. Our past years' third rounders are: Brazzell Princely Wallace DJ Johnson Matt Corral All this to say, I could see a team like the Jets going w/ a 2nd. They have three FRPs next year.
