Can this happen?

#1 Panthers Fan

Someone posted this on Charlotte Observer and I know it sounds like a bunch of horse crap but can this be done now with the new CBA?

Chicago and others looking into negotiating a possible buyout and trying to manipulate a deal to sign Newton since the new union agreement JR signed is non-restrictive and allows rookies to be bought like free agents.

Newtons agent has stated he also does not want to play for the Panthers and feels the Carolina franchise does not meet up to his higher standards and wants out. He uses the word "slop" to describe them.

Technically he also knows his time is limited to move on or he will lose his fleeting appeal monitarily as the losing streak gets worse. 100 million is the demand.

Regardless whether its next week or after the next 11 weeks hes a goner in 2012 as is Smith.

Everything that post says is wrong. Everything. Every word. It even gets the prepositions wrong.

Cam's not going anywhere: this is the NFL, players can be franchise tagged forever, and he really doesn't seem like someone obsessed with money. I mean, he's still living in an apartment.

I also seriously doubt he's the kind of player that wants to go straight to an elite team, because he explicitly stated he wanted us to pick him at #1 and Auburn was a middling team before he picked them as well (in the most difficult conference in the country.)

Cam's a competitor, he wants to win for our team, and have the legacy that goes with turning a losing team into a winner.

    • If Henderson just got a concussion and will possibly/probably now miss next week as well, gotta think missing 2 games of stats at this point of the year might knock him out as he was only just entering the discussion the last few weeks anyways.  Same goes for Judkins going down today too, and Dart's god awful game likely removes him from the conversation as well. It will be interesting to see how the voters compare T-Mac and Egbuka if they end up with stats that are nearly identical. Egbuka burst onto the scene and put up the bulk of his stats early in the year when Baker was playing like the MVP front runner.  While T-Mac was just more consistent throughout the course of the full season (ex. Egbuka has 8 games of 42 yards or less, T-Mac has 4 of them, while T-Mac still scored 3 TDs in those 4 games, where Egbuka only scored 1 TD in his 8). It would be a shame if they put too much weight on the final game of the season if that ends up being the division decider, as I think T-Mac has had the better SEASON while Egbuka had a better peak output during that first month or so but way cooled off since. Maybe Warren goes off in the last 3 games (they still play tomorrow), but it does seem to be down to T-Mac and Egbuka right now.
    • Mitchell Evan’s put a block on someone that he drove them all the way out of bounds and to the bench. He absolutely destroyed the guy. He’s gonna be a beast for us if he keeps that up.
    • Yall... stop taking a sample size and projecting a role player into a permanent starter cuz he had a decent year after what, 5? Come on
