Bye Week Priorities....

1. Run blocking. We are no where near as productive as we should be, especially given teams are no longer loading up the box against Cam.

2. Punt returns. Would be nice to see AE get just a little bit of space to run every now and then.

3. Coaching. Growing tired of the mental breakdowns and penalties. Falls in the discipline category, which falls on Rivera.

Without some of these holds and mental errors we've had, I think we win another game or two. We really have to get more disciplined. We've left points on the field and extended drives with mental lapses numerous times.

i love the way we're static on D before snap..no movement. Let's see if the brain trust can figure out some new schemes during the break or maybe get some more depth in LB....

Not a good idea given the youth on our team. Best thing right now is to keep it as simple as possible. Confusing the young guys would not be so smart.

We keep saying we're young, on offense, there are two 'young' piece parts.

Most of the holding is coming from Gross, Wharton, Steve Smith and our personal favorite Nanee....then the pushoffs with Shockey.

There is nothing young in that group.

Yes, I know the rookie OT had a couple that's expected. The others should know better.

Zod's right on the money there... I don't think there's much to be done with the D. They're young and inexperienced and thin... don't go confusing them. Our running game needs to step up, whether it's blocking or the RB's or what.

Penalties... yeah there can always be better discipline but penalties are gonna happen.

Special Teams needs all kinds of kick in the ass... KO & Punt returns, KO & Punt coverage, and the FG unit. Idk if it's coaching or execution or what, but they need to change that completely around.

1. Announce special teams penalties and personal fouls after the whistle will be running stairs in the stadium - during the game.

2. Make Armanti Edwards watch enough video of Dancing with the Stars that he decides to refrain from dancing during punt returns. Also, point out that he cannot call for a fair catch before the punt.

3. Show Rivera, (and Chud, for his 12 formations before every play), hours of video of coaches taking responsibility for penalties so they will recognize they are close to leading the league in an area they would rather avoid.

4. Put Sam Mills statue on the field - it would make more tackles staying in place than our LB are doing running out of position.

5. Let Cam take Mare out to lunch (along with snapper and holder) and share what happens next time they miss a routine FG.

We are what I thought we would be. A more competitive team, but with too many holes right now to win consistently. The O is ahead of schedule, but the D is way behind. Honestly I am pretty happy with the season so far.

That said, a few minor details to address.

1: Consider giving Shockey a 2 year extension.

2. Have a sit down with the O line, Stew, and D Will, and try to figure out what's going on there.

3. Get healthy.

    • I am high, but that’s besides the point! The blue line is not good right now. I’ve said it all year. I don’t think this group meshes well. Slaven has been just OK Niki up and down Miller up and down ghost and Walker have been your most consistent guys. Maybe it comes together more towards the playoffs
    • I was expecting to see more cap room moves by now, which may be to suggest that we are not going to be that aggressive.  I have mixed emotions about that (because I think we have 3 needs on D and 3 needs on O--starters).  If you look to the draft for 3 starters, that is ambitious.  We need 6
    • Yeah we shouldn’t be competing with teams, bidding wise, to sign a WR. There will be one for us and our budget.  I keep saying, how many balls will there be to go around anyway? One thing good I will say for this offense is the ball has been spread around at times. Seems like I remember seeing a large number of guys have caught passes in a game. Or been targeted at least. 3 RBs 4 or 5 WRs 2-3 TEs type of stat lines. 10-11 guys.  Not every week but that happens.    As far as WR in general, we need the smaller agile and quicker component to compliment what is there. After that it should be about depth, having good backups for the starters so we can run things consistently still, if a guy is out for a week or two. That is especially important in game where you have to finish the game with who you made active.
