walter footballs mock 2012 draft has us picking Blackmon at #4 as of this Thursday. I guess they're taking into account BPA if we go that high in the draft, since they previously had us drafting morris claiborne somewhere in the middle of the first because it was assumed we would win more games.

Furiouspumpkin has a point Ruff, if Jackson leaves then we will most likely be on near the bottom of his list in teams he will want to go to. Most big name FA's want to go to a team that could realistically have a chance at a superbowl, or at least a deep playoff run. We just haven't proven in recent seasons that we have that capability.

While I'm not opposed to Blackmon, there are a bunch of higher profile WR's that could hit the open market this year and i imagine the FO will keep an eye out on that. Dwayne Bowe would be one to watch.

Addressing that position through free agency would enable us to target other players via the draft.

ok....so i don't think that it is a necessity that we draft blackmon, i sure wouldn't mind having him here. smitty, blackmon, gettis, lafell, olsen, and shockey....:arf:.

considering who we have at QB and the style offense we've got going on, blackmon might just be about as perfect a fit as you could have.

i just saw this clip from sports science.

still fun to watch.

in regards to what they looked at, his leaping ability and ability to adjust to the catch would really come in handy when you've got a QB that can get in situations where he's throwing on the run and the ball comes at some crazy angles.

I like the Jackson idea, mainly because he can give us an instant boost on special teams with his returns. But, he's a big hit away from being snapped in half.

I'm not opposed to Blackmon. He's legit from what I've seen. I'd rather have OL help with the 1st pick (Kalil), but if he isn't there and Blackmon is, we can't go wrong with it and focus on D the rest of the way.

It depends what we do in FA to an extent. I'd like to see a list of OL & WR's who are set to be free agents. It'll be great if we can handle those needs with young, underrated players and go all out in the draft for defense.
