Kalil not entering 2012 draft.

If we want Jeffery we should def trade down. He will be available in the mid to late first round. Especially after he runs a 4.5+ 40 at the combine. I do think he would be a good fit for us though as a #2 or #3 guy. Not sure he will ever be able to be a #1 guy though. He doesn't get enough separation.

I'm starting to believe just because Kalil is going back and Barkley also, Jeffrey will move up draft boards. I can very well see this scenario playing out like this.

Colts- Andrew Luck

Vikings- Morris Claiborne

Rams- Justin Blackmon

Jaguars- Alshon Jeffrey

Redskins- Robert Griffin

Panthers- ????

If the draft order stays like this we might be in a nice position to trade back. If we do here are a couple of guys I would consider.

Manti te'o ILB and OLB

Riley Rieff OT

Jonathan Martin OT

Michael Floyd WR

If we happen to be able to trade out don't be surprise if the Panthers take Devon Still 6'5'' 310 DT from Penn State. The way things are looking we are maybe in position to get this guy.

No he isn't. He's slow and most people know he's slow. Even his game speed is slow. Dude has sick hands though. There is no denying that.

Yeah. I see him being a Keyshawn type receiver. Which isn't an insult. Great hands average speed.

Getting separation isnt all about speed, Alshon uses his large frame and leaping ability to catch passes and he is damn near impossible to beat up at the line of scrimmage. His game speed doesnt mirror his 40 time either. He will be a tough match up in the NFL for most cb's who are around the 5'11 height especially in our division and to top it off nobody really knows how good he can be with a talented Qb throwing him them ball.

Three of the top 10 players in the draft are OT's. There is one CB and one DE who I suppose we could pick. The other 5 are QB's, WR's, and a RB, none of these positions are positions of need for us, IMO. That means unless we trade down we are probably looking at Claiborne or one of the OT's.

The highest rated DT is at 19 and the highest rated OLB is at 22 so if we wanted to pick someone at these positions it would be a real reach if we didn't trade down.

There are also several DT's and OLB's with second round grades so we could go CB or OT with our first pick and then get someone for one of these positions in the 2nd round.

I'm not trying to insult Jeffery. I have actually said he might be a better fit with this personnel than the other receivers available. We have plenty of speed guys that have been great 20 to 20. What we don't have is a big hands guy like him that would be a major asset in the red zone (except our tight ends).

I am just skeptical that he will ever be a true #1 receiver in a vertical passing game.

I just disagree. I think your allowing a perceived reputation of him to base your opinion. He has built his speed since he was recruited out of high school and it's showed.

This whole process just reinforces the idea that it is too early to be talking draft picks at this point. We don't know who is available, who will come out as an underclassman and who will stay in school. I know it won't slow down the speculation but right now it is likely much ado about nothing.
