Panthers considered taking QB TJ Yates

The third Texans starter this season, QB T.J. Yates (North Carolina) could have ended up in a Panthers’ uniform. “We looked at him,” Rivera said. With 2 1/2 games of film to review, Rivera was reminded of what he initially liked during last offseason’s pre-draft scouting. “He’s very smart,” Rivera said.

i wonder how this season would look if we did go with him? im glad we got cam thoa.

Didn't happen. We have Cam.

Could have been an option if we had gone a different way in the 1st round. However, Cam is far superior to Yates.

I think by considered they mean as a late round choice, when he was available......I don't, by any means, think they had any intentions of drafting TJ as the future of the franchise

Yea, I doubt they considered drafting him instead of Cam. More than likely he would have been a later round pick and a possible backup to Cam, or another option if Cam proved to be a bust.

TJ would be a phenomenal backup to Cam. Would rather have him then Clausen at this point or Derek Andersen.

or derek anderson i guess... he may not have been signed

Not me. If god forbid, Cam gets injured, I would much prefer to bring in a vet like Anderson instead of a rookie.
