I don't think I understand what you are saying.

Gamble is a really good CB, QB's would just rather throw against Capt..

Ok, but this article is looking at the QB rating opposing quarterbacks have when throwing into the coverage of that corner. In other words, when that corner IS targeted, what is the QB rating of the quarterback?

In this case, it's extremely low, second only to Revis.

That's why there are multiple measures of how a corner is doing - not just number of receptions given up etc but also QB rating of QB targeting them, precisely for the reason you mention. Gamble is doing very well when quarterbacks DO look his direction.

Gotcha...didn't click the link because it was a twitter link. Figured it was some fan spouting about how good Gamble is playing this year.

I am a huge fan of his, here's to hoping that he can hold it together for a few more years. Dude's getting long in the tooth, but some of the best play for a long time at corner these days.

Good point, but I'd wager that Revis was tested far fewer times than Gamble was this year. Having said that, seems like Butler was targeted almost every time the throw went outside on Saturday.

Did you see the Giants/Jets game? Revis is being challenged plenty this year compared to years past. He is still playing well but he is not completely shutting down players quite as much as last year.

Now we know why Gamble was benched last year. Fox was totally not going to be entertained with W's.

Gamble played terrible last year. Even he has said so. Fox wasn't to blame for that. In fact, being embarrassed last year is probably what helped Gamble refocus this year.

Didn't see that game, but I just checked into it and was surprised to see that Revis is being tested quite a bit this year. I gotta quit buying into the hype...not a Revis fan, BTW...

    • Smith-Wade for me. He has the path to some decent hefty snaps in Evero’s scheme. He held his own last year and improved as he continued to get snaps— If he makes some strides, could be a very capable nickel.  I agree with Sanders. Bryce had some trust in him that final Falcons game post crazy head-stand.  Bryce looked for him a lot that final game and made some critical catches to get us the W. Seems he’s put in major work so I’m hopeful about him.  Wallace will have an offseason under his belt. I like him a lot, was higher graded than most remember in his draft (I.e Brugler had him LB3/70 overall) but he isn’t as cerebral of an LB as we’re used to. I think he could thrive if we get D captain/film-junky type next to him— because right now that’s Jewell.  Still a bit cautious but love the talent. Rozeboom may snag some playing time from him if he’s still working out the kinks.
    • Didnt Canales already say starters are playing in the pre season? either way extra reps dont hurt but im not one of those people that think playing in the pre season would have saved Bryce from an awful start.
    • very helpful.  I read back in this thread where they might try Jarvis at C--I thought he and Aho had good chemistry, however.  Nonetheless, he could expand his value there, and now we have a guy who can play jarvis' spot.  Freddie is a pro, no doubt--and as little as I know about the inner workings of strategy and positions, I could tell Burns was burning us at times.  I figured he'd retire and I was looking forward to it.  FWIW, they have Jarvis listed as a C on the 2025-26 roster.
