JaMarcus Russell supposedly fires back at Cam Newton

Jamarcus isn't coming back... he got paid $31M plus three years salary, so he's set for life. Ever wonder why his life coach gave up on him and said he doesn't want anything to do with his lazy arse? It's because JR knows that he can just sit on the couch and not do anything and still be set for life. Race not a factor.... Ryan Leaf was in the same boat.

Personally, I'm amazed that the guy was widely projected as a #1 pick and yet failed so miserably and Cam was widely projected to be unworthy of the #1 pick and yet succeeded so spectacularly. Maybe there is a connection here....

The fact that JaMarcus' name was often brought up as a comparison to Newton pre-draft gives Cam license to talk about it, IMO. This ain't personal, this is football.

The #1 overall pick in any NFL draft is a huge honor and responsibility. The road that leads there doesn't always dictate where a player moves on from there. Huge amounts of money are involved and even bigger expectations. Some live up to them, some don't. JaMarcus totally failed at a level of all time epic proportions to join the ranks of Ryan Leaf and other failures and I don't feel one bit sorry for him. He has his millions for doing essentially nothing to earn them. On top of all this, he held out for more money when it was time to sign.

His objections to being mentioned by Cam about his own experiences with pre-draft judgements aren't worth worrying about. So he cares about what Cam says, yet can't be bothered living up to the expectations demanded of a professional football player? GTFO and have another swig of purple drank.....

I'm willing to bet if he's not out of money already, his days of short funds are only just around the corner.

Jamarcus is right. Cam should have left names out and Im pretty sure that if he had it to do over again he wouldn't. Cam is wrong in another respect. The problem wasn't that JR and VY were black and didn't live up to their potential. The problem is that because they didn't live up to their potential people came to the conclusion that it was BECAUSE they are black. Because that conclusion was mad on them (either consciously or unconsciously) people assumed the same about cam using the same flawed logic. The people who made their judgement that way are at fault.

A few people might have come to that conclusion, but most just looked at JR and VY as another overrated prospect coming out of college, no different than Ryan Leaf, or a 100 others that have come out with a lot of hype only to fail in the nfl crucible.
