Weekly OMG Sherrod Martin thread

He isn't going to be on the roster next season. I posted this two months ago. Ron went to Hurney in October and told him (among other things) in essence "Martin will not play for me next season and I don't anticipate anything happening that changes my mind, so you need to plan on getting a better starting free safety." Not that there needed to be any greater level of assurance, but today....Jesus. You can't play any worse.

Is there any truth to this?

I cringed on that pass at the half like no other. It's like it went in slow motion as Martin back-peddled to try and make up the 5+ yard difference...never even turned around and the bad thing is the ball looked like it hung up enough that he could have at least gotten a hand close to try and break it up.

It's hard to see so many players get behind Martin...a safety...and burn us. It's time for an upgrade. Not asking for a pro bowler, just some constancy in the passing game and a good tackler...would do wonders

DWill's face was the best on the sidelines.

that was the most pathetic coverage I've ever seen aside from just stopping and saying fug it.

Yeah they would have to assess the achilies on Landry..not a tear but he got it fixed. Need a game changer in the secondary...which Sherrod Martin is...xcept in a bad way...see Jacksonville, yesterday and other games.

He has a 4 to 1 bad to good play ratio* confusion and

*actual stat I just created but is official and awesome!

Does anybody else find it funny that BOTH our starting safetys hardly played safety in college?? LOL

not at all.. in a pass first league where the rules have been changed to allow more broken records to drive more NFL attention, it actually makes a lot more sense since the safety position isn't what it used to be...

    • I’m really having a hard time understanding how this actually went down. -Renfrow expected to make roster as 2nd/3rd string. -Panthers cut Renfrow; Keep Brycen Tremayne, and add UDFA receiver (Dalevon Campbell) to active roster.  -Canales/Morgan say it’s totally up to Hunter whether he wants to come back or not, they would love to have him.    -Renfrow not signed to PS -Panthers trade Adam Thielen -Hunter Renfrow signed to active roster with a raise after an injury to Coker nobody heard about and is likely to start.    Our WR room is now: -Xavier Legette (2024 1st round pick) -Tet McMillan (2025 1st round pick) -Hunter Renfrow (1 year out of the league) -David Moore (Canales’ friend? A guy way past his prime) -Jimmy Horn (Likely a Shi Smith reprint, but has potential 2025 6th round pick, weighs 174 lbs) -Brycen Tremayne (2023 UDFA who was on Washington’s PS for 2 years and caught 1 pass for -2 yards and averaged 300 yards per year at Stanford) -Dalevon Campbell (2025 UDFA had a good preseason but had 1463 yards and 3 TDs over 5 college seasons at 3 different schools). What the hell is going on?
    • Not uncommon for week 1 games. Especially against good defenses. It’s why I prefer my team play these small schools week 1 if they are going to play them. Gives the offense time to get calibrated.
