Interesting development for draft prospect Dre Kirkpatrick

Maybe he could drop to the 2nd?? If so Brockers in the 1st and Kirkpatrick in the 2nd would be awesome! There are a lot of 1st/2nd round cornerbacks in this draft. Teams might pass on Kirkpatrick for one of those other CB's not wanting to take a risk on a "drug user." Personally I have no problem if he smokes weed as long as he sticks to business during the nfl season.

What if he can't and turns out to be one of the ones who tests positive and gets suspended tests positive again and gets a longer suspension yada yada yada.... ?

What ability of self-control has he displayed by getting caught not even a week after he declares?

This should probably be obvious, but getting arrested for possession is a lot worse than testing positive/admitting prior usage at the combine. Not only were you too stupid/didn't care enough to stop for a couple of months, you were also stupid enough to get the attention of a cop while doing it.

i don't think its the smoking as much as the stupidity of a projected 1st round pick getting caught with drugs. Come on man, let your friends hold it, you just smoke it. That is really dumb.

Agreed. If you're a projected top 10 draft pick you can't let a stupid mishap like that derail your stock.

He's a Crimeson Tide kid. He'll go first round. By the time draft day come around the media would paint this incident as a bone-head mistake but not a reflection of his character.:sifone:

legal, not legal, harmful, not harmful, character issue, non-issue .... none of this really matters.

What really matters as far as 99% of us fans are concerned is what the Big Cat thinks of it. There lies the only impact to Panther fans and team.

funny how people look down on that and will take a drink in the same breath.. pure ignorance.

Seriously man, As a medical marijuana patient and someone who played HS and college sports while smoking, I can't stand this sort of knock on a guys reputation.

A police report said Kirkpatrick was a passenger in a truck driven by another former Alabama player, Christopher Airreun Rogers, 25, of Baltimore, Md., who police stopped for driving on the wrong side of the road. A dog detected the presence of drugs, the report said, and an officer found marijuana on the floorboard of the passenger side at Kirkpatrick’s feet.

Rogers told police he purchased the marijuana at a house and was charged with a drug offense.

Kirkpatrick told officers he was in the car when the drugs were purchased by another person, but he didn’t realize at the time what was being bought, the report said.

Silly police, wonder how much of the fact that it was two black boys at near 1am that led him to let his do a walk around on the car.

Good job driving on the wrong side of the road with bud in the car though, geniuses.
