Probably has a third/fourth round grade by draft week, I really like him. 6' 2" 237 lbs and runs a 4.63 40 yard dash. A leader and a hitter. Can play any LB position, included WLB.

National Football Post

Jumped off the tape at me, left me saying "this is a bad dude." Looks a little shorter and more compact than his 6-3 listing says. However, plays low, is a natural bender, keeps his base down and can really snap through the hips into contact. Is an explosive kid with a "plus" initial first step, natural fluidity when changing directions and can balance himself quickly and unload into contact. Possesses a long set of arms as well when looking to wrap. Is a "plus" tackler who is able to take good angles to the football, breakdown in space and get his man to the ground. Is very effective inside the box as well. Does a nice job using his length and short area quickness to get under blocks and either hold the point and shed on contact or make defenders miss. Rarely is locked up on and is very active/sudden with both his hands and feet. Overall a "plus" run defender. Is always around the football, showcases natural instincts keying off blocks and quickly locating the football. Plays off the correct shoulder well when defeating blocks and is quick to close.

Showcases a solid feel in the pass game as well. Will get caught at times being too narrow with his footwork. However he can bend, drop his pad level and accelerate laterally toward the football. Displays average hands, routinely is forced to double catch and despite his fluidity and quick footwork, looks a bit tight in the upper body which takes away from his ability to generate more force when closing on the play. Nevertheless, has a good feel in zone, reads and reacts well and gets plenty of early jumps on the football.

Impression: One of the biggest surprises on tape this draft season. Was explosive, instinctive and always making plays on the football. Looks like a starting caliber linebacker either inside or out in a 43 scheme.

my only issue is his height and the only reason it concerns me is because he'll probably have to be covering big TEs like graham, winslow, gonzo and whoever the falcons get to replace him when he retires.

aside from that....sure. why not if he's a 4th rounder?

he goes for those big highlight reel hits, which is why he stands out

every scout that i respect and think are worth a damn have him as a 6th-7th rounder

you guys are talking about taking him in the 2nd? good lord

In WalterFootball's top 5 OLB, 4 are listed as 6'2. Is it that big of a deal? Graham will tower over just about anyone.

We're talking possibly a 3rd or 4th. Maybe we could get him in the 5th.

Only one mentioned a 2nd: "good get in the third, may jump as high as mid 2nd"

...and that's not saying let's get go him in the second round.

He's an interesting prospect to talk about

      Basically agree.  He is the one of that bunch that offers upgraded pass catching along with he is supposed to be kind of special.   Then you have the OL and the ideas that if they perform you can have JAG backs and still do well. So okay we could be fine.  But Brooks is important and to me that receiving element sets him apart.  So there sure is something riding on him.     What strikes me as incongruent is people over in Atlanta or those that follow them look at Penix with a third surgery and act like it is no big deal.      And we are on pins and needles over Brooks.  Either they should worry a lot more or we should worry a lot less.

      I usually go a game or two optimist over the consensus here but this is too early for me to say. I need to see some players on the field.  I am not feeling real optimistic though.

      Okay as a ‘take CJ’ fan I actually don’t obsess over CJ and Houston, contrary to the narrative.  But I thought I picked up some noise that his OL left a lot to be desired.    Not a single Beyce supporter would judge him harshly if he had a crappy OL. We all know that.    So be fair about it.  A QB needs to be protected.  Especially a guy that gets to his spot and wants to finish the play from there. Which CJ is.
