How many players that you wanted...

I was mainly referring to players on our current roster by why stop there.

So my top tier excitement picks were in order of years:

Biakabutuka

Carruth(fml)

Morgan

Peppers

Gamble

Beason

Jarret-yep I was idiot for that

Stewart

Clausen- didnt have my eye on him cuz I never felt he would drop to us. But once he did I was happy as a pig in poo.

Lafell- for receivers in that range I really liked him but I prefered Damian Williams who went one pick before him to the titans. I was pissed and ready to have a heart attack if we didn't take Lafell.

Cam-duh

Now for my pissed off draft day emotions.

#1 and its not even close was Thomas Davis over Derrick Johnson

Beason, was like wtf? I can't remember who I wanted, maybe Olsen but beason was not on my radar.

The entire 09 draft pissed me off(Everette Brown, Sherrod Martin, Corey Irvin) and then for some reason I was super excited about Duke Robinson falling to us.

Armanti Edwards pissed me off pretty good too.

I really wanted peppers in 02.

I wanted leftwich in 03.

I wanted Derrick Johnson or jamaal brown in 05.

I wanted Eric Winston in 06.

Wanted Willis in 07.

Was sure we would get clady in 08.

09 was a pass.

2010 I wanted golden Tate.

In 2011 I wanted Andrew luck then I wanted aj green

Now I want Reiff.

What can I say? The game is won upfront.

Someone else wanted Rashaun Woods? Classic blunder. He has been an assistant coach for OK State I think and a quick Google search shows a Rashaun Woods from Jones, Oklahoma with $1050 career earnings on the Bass Pro Anglers Tour, so there we go.

Cam, DeAngelo Williams, and Jonathan Stewart, I really wanted those players. I was certain we'd take Stew. Thought we would take either Cam or trade down for AJ Green. Felt confident we would take Williams as well. Wasn't high on the TD and Beason picks at the time, didn't know how we would use TD, and I didn't like the way Beason failed to shed blocks. Turns out Foxy and company knew their LBs.

I really wanted Jon Beason, but I didn't see us taking him because of where we were drafting.

On the flip-side, I adamantly did NOT want Brandon LaFell, but he has be a pleasant surprise thus far. I think he had fewer drops than anyone in the division last year, and I thought he would be Mr. Dropped Pass.

    • If we don't go OT, we will regret it.  What bothers me?  Are we going to get a starting-caliber OT at 19?  I think the draft is solid at OT, and the more I read up and watch video, the more I watch Lomu, the more I want him.   I see Freeling as a RT who needs some work in run blocking (since we need to run first, maybe not a good fit) and I see Proctor ending up as a Guard.  After Lomu (assuming Mouigia and fanu are gone), I think we wait until round 2.  In round 2, there are about 3-4 I like (Zuhn--good pass blocker and VERY underrated right now; Tiernan is a very good pass blocker as is Miller from Clemson, but both are not good in the run game.  Max Ixxxxx from Ariz St is impressive too---technically, there is not a of difference in these second tier guys--good in pass pro, need work in the run game.   If we wait until round 2 for an OT, we probably need to sign Nijman and start him early.   I almost think this is what we should do if Lomu is gone.  There is a big dropoff after him, imo, and I think we'd get better value if a stud ILB or edge is there.  Someone like TJ Parker Clemson makes sense. If Lomu is gone, trading back might be the play.
    • And what is x gunna help with except show him what not to do. Plus for the first year and a half he was just an obstacle
    • I understand that some people want WR. I am solidly against using yet another high pick there. Coker is pretty good and we used No picks on him.  What I think we really need at WR is a little bit of a Smitty lite. It is ridiculous to say let’s get a Smitty because you just can’t do that, but someone not tall and long striding but more in his mold. I think we’d have a pretty well rounded group.    Looking at tackle, with replacing Moton looming, it just seems like the no brainer.  You fill in Icky short term. Depending on how he recovers, and how the new guy plays, you go from there. A tackle at 19 is most likely either a LOT, a ROT, or a big talented guard, at worst. We will need all three in the next couple of years.  I would love to have a stud ILB be there at 19 but the OL is the responsible thing to do I believe.
