Deunta Williams Worth looking into?

Does anyone remember this guy from last year? He feel off the radar after he broke is leg in the bowl game. Before that some scouts had him going in the first round. Not saying he's a starter or even capable of replacing Sharod Martin but, he should atleast be looked into as a cheap option and brought into camp. What say you....

Pros

•Very good instincts, reads and reacts very well

•Has excellent range, can get from sideline-to-sideline very quickly

•Solid in man coverage as well, has fluid hips and adequate speed

•Has very good ball skills, good hands, and drives on receivers well

•Heavy hitter, delivers the knockout blow

•Aggressive in run support, will fly up and makes tackles at the line of scrimmage

Cons

•Needs to work on open field tackling, needs to do a better job breaking down. Often over runs plays

•Speed is adequate, but by no means a burner

•Broke his leg in final game of his career

•Would like to see him add some weight and muscle

•Very aggressive, and will sometimes get burned, by pump fakes and double moves

Overall

Deunta Williams was one of those North Carolina players who's Senior season was killed by the NCAA's suspension, as he was suspended for 4 games, and the whole teams season was disjointed, adversely affecting him. Williams came into the year as an elite safety prospect with 12 Interceptions in his first 3 years, as he has always displayed great instincts and ball skills. He is solid in both man and zone coverage, as he has excellent range, good closing speed, and reads and diagnoses plays very quickly. While Williams is a thumper, and loves to deliver the big hit, he needs to improve in run support. He is almost always in the correct position, but he doesn't break down well in the open field, and doesn't have the strength to make many 1-on-1 tackles. He is also very aggressive, and often too aggressive as he will sometimes get caught with his hand in the cookie jar going for the big play. He just needs to polish up his game, and if he can do that, and add some muscle he will be a steal, and a become a much better player than people think. He could go anywhere from late round 2, to early in the 4th.

The article I read that was written in July said that his injury was so bad that he was taking a year off to concentrate on his rehab. So is his leg and ankle healed and is he back to 100% or not at this point??? If he were, it seems that he would worth bringing into camp. THis is just the kind of guy we look for. On the other hand he seems to think he would have been the number 1 safety until he got hurt so he might be looking for a much bigger payday than he deserves.

UNC homers are almost as bad as App State homers. Almost.

What's homer like about being (possibly) the number one saftey in last year's class? He just happens to play for unc thus making it alittle more likely he'd sign with us. For the record I have no love for any north carolina (college) football team.Do some research before Calling homer on a guy who just happened to play on a defense that had plenty of first round talent.

He was a great player in college, I don't see the harm bringing him in. When healthy the guy was a ballhawk. The injury does worry me a bit.\

Also, he was a much better overall player than Searcy in college, and Searcy managed to get some playing time with the Bills this year.

    • You have gave the board some recent gold via posting. Heres my poor attempt at the truthful play-by-play of the time during post- I pulled out the old laptop to do my shitposting and check on websites. Open the huddle and see this new thread. Open thread and read CRAs post, {inner thinking, oooOOooo this is my lane and I got this}. Make sure not to scroll even to the 2nd post. 23% of current neurons still firing start up and two names appear- Captain and Josh....... about another 43 seconds past "O GOD" it's July 4th weekend and I got medicine to pick up. (If the laptop didn't give away my aging, the meds should...) I need to split, think long panther careers and the hint-  Ryan Kalil was a late 2nd and Pro bowls(even all-pros too) he's got to be OLman and Mikie Minter is among the all-time Panthers career leaders. Drop my post. Scramble to get keys, wallet, and phone. Check my phone- its 17% battery.....fug I now have to raw dog the pickup line and put the phone on charge.... Flip flops, sweat ringed filled hat, and shades acquired. Get in my pos rav4 and think about not running the A/C. Pull out the drive way and reach the 1st stop light, A/C is wide open. I check my shirt to see if there's any new stains on my house shirt, bush off the Bojangles salt that I see.... Neurons re-fire and focus on the comments CRA made that no one would get this....... Dang IT, that means it isn't Ryan Kalil or Mike Minter! CVS is close, but I know its impossible I get back withing 10 minutes to change my post and my phone is on the charger. {Think you monkey, at one point you were a draft nerd}. Reach the CVS line, by some grace its not 5 cars deep during 5 o'clock traffic hell. Im second in line after the car in front of me both turn in, they have to go back and forth to line up while Im a pro for that geometry. Neurons finally reach peak performance as Ive re-thought draft classes. Think obscure and unknown 7th rounders with long careers. Some Sunday/Monday night member berry fell out of my Melon, Will montgomery during the players intros for washington. I thought he out of the league and was shocked to see him still playing around the 2015 years. I do a goggle background check and that refreshed memory. Pick up the meds and enjoy the sweet smelling cool CVS air. Driving back and check in on one of the local bums at the big stop light, wow he's got a new fancy rug. Think about all the old food I got and need to start giving it away and rethink it. Reach home and post a follow up and I know Minter is wrong too, I check the draft history and see Robert Mcclain. Too late, but that would have been my guess....open CRAs link and get "upset" at the DBs name.
    • THANKS my guy! Keeping up with this threads theme, if I view a thread and there's only 20 posts and some time passes. If I see there's one new post and read the name; @Dave Gettleman's Shortsis among the chosen few that I will reopen that thread just to see what you posted.    Thanks again, plus not just a scout, thats scotty mccloughans son?!?!? If not for the deep claws of booze, scotty is among the best talent finders this league has recently had. Last I heard he ran a consulting business. Caden could be one of those who's on a early path to being a GM in the future. I was a big fan of his dad, dam shame about booze demon ruining his career.
