La Canfora has Claiborne falling to us

First we want Coples, switched to Brockers, switched to Poe, now Claiborne. Who's next....Olympia Dukakis?

Agreed.... for where we are picking at there are too many options. If the Rams are serious about trading the #2 pick, then it looks like Luck, RGIII, Kalil, Richardson go 1-4, and after that it gets kinda murkey. Claiborne, Kalil, Reiff, and Blackmon make the most sense for us, but after their respective pro-days, I don't see any of them dropping to #9. That being said, if Claiborne is there at 9, I think we run, not walk to the podium for that selection.

If it's the one he just did on NFLN, I just don't see Seattle trading up above us for Tannehill. But he is more connected than myself... I just don't think that's gonna happen.

If it does, awesome.

Also, I do NOT see Tampa taking Blackmon over Claiborne. They still have two young WRs that are a year removed from awesome seasons. I think they give them another year, plus, they're adding Manningham in FA. Why would they take Blackmon?

Ronde Barber is 208 years old.

We need a CB, so if Claiborne is there, we take him. If Blackmon drops to us, we trade back and pick up Poe in the teens. JMO.

happy with MC here

Coples will be gone

Brockers looks good too, and Poe is blowing peoples minds with that 40

the safe statement is that there seems to be enough talent in this draft to equate to us getting a good player.

So now the hard part comes. When there are several pieces that will work, the puzzle master must find the one true match out of the handful of options. Good luck Marty.

No way Claiborne falls to us. No way. Walterfootball had the same scenario and they both include some head-scratching moves in the first 8 picks that almost certainly won't happen.

Bucs will take Claiborne. They hired his DB's coach from LSU. Claiborne will be the hands-down BPA at 5th overall. And even if by some miracle the Bucs don't take him, the Jaguars would in a second.

I think it depends on how Hurney and Rivera think Hogan is coming along. If Hogan is the starter than Claiborne isn't as critical. If Hogan isn't a lock then Claiborne is definitely at a position of need especially if Tampa takes Blackmon. It also depends on whether Hurney and Rivera think we are okay at DT/DE this year or really want to solidify that position. He could definitely help us more than Poe would in 2012. Down the road, things even up more.

I don't think Claiborne is there though. But if he were, you have to look hard at him. The thing about Poe is that he brings something to the team we just don't have. A kris Jenkins type tackle who has been sorely missed. Plus I think that Rivera believes that a great pass rush is more important than a great secondary.

Glad I don't have to make those choices.

I agree that I think there is NO WAY that Tampa does not take Claiborne.

Will sign Manningham as a FA....takes WR off the list.

Although Richardson is an absolute stud, it has been shwon that quality backs can be found in later rounds and FA.

They desperately need DB.

    • I like what Freeling brings to the table all around. If he is willing to put in the work he has an opportunity to be one of the better Tackles in the league down the line. Hunter Brazzell and Hecht are all premium additions but development from our staff are the key to unlocking them. Hopefully Lee and Wheatley will provide much needed additional depth to our secondary. Beyond that it's important not to get too caught up in draft grades. Many drafts over the years that turned out to be really good were not fawned over with praise. While some that were ended up being historical duds. Panthers fans ought to know this as well as anyone. In conclusion...
    • Maybe a bit of a homer take but I can't give us a grade lower than A.   Freeling was arguably the best LT prospect in the draft.  His athletic ability is off the chart and at 6'7" that can move.  It was a no brainer pick.   Hunter's key word is Violence. Putting him next to Brown should scare an offensive coordinator. These two give Scourton and Phillips plenty of chances to get one on one opportunities. Brazzell, another tall receiver with sprinter speed.  Our WR room is filled with tall talented WR.  Brazzell is going to give us a WR that can take to roof off the defense.  Basically Jimmy Horn with size. W. Lee III has a nickname of the Blanket. (heard this on the Beleav podcast with J. Stewart)  What a great name.  A great value in the 5th round. Hecht A strong, fast and extremely smart center. Many had him listed as the best center in the draft.  He's most likely a starter sooner than later. Wheatley A good safety in round 5.  Someone who could see playing time.   Kuwatch  I love this pick.  At minimum he will be a key piece on special teams and with some good coaching he'll see some packages where he'll play.  His down piece is he doesn't stay up in the running game.  Good coaching will fix this.  He reminds me a bit of A.J. Klein.   All these picks were great value.  I believe everyone of them were graded higher than the pick we took them.   Dan Morgan is IMO doing a great job turning this team into a good team with great depth.
