Could 2012 be 2007 all over again?

Like someone already said, 2007 wasn't random. We didn't begin the day wanting to move down to pick up Beason. We wanted Willis and we couldn't get him. Hurney just did what he gets paid to do.

I wouldn't be upset if we go LB first and heavy in the draft. Looking at the statistics on players comin back from a torn achilles is not good. Beason may help us mentally on the field and as a team leader, but I believe that unfortunately Beasons career is on the downturn. As for TD, I just don't see that turning out good for anyone especially for him because if something happens to his knee again he will be lucky to walk around normal for the rest of his life.

One injury and now we're considering Beason more of a coach/cheerleader? I've seen pessimism before, but god damn son...I hope you never volunteer to counsel depressed/suicidal teens. Beason is only 27 years old, he's had a full season to recover, we have one of the best foot doctors at our disposal, and his doctors have told him that his injury/rehab has actually added years to his career. Even if I wanted concrete evidence to support your statements (stats? lol), they would still be worthless in saying anything about this particular case. You have no faith bro.

Could we go linebacker? Yes if we went with Kuechly from BC. He could fill Davis's position very well and solidify our linebacking corps if davis goes down. Look what he did as a junior..... Imagine where he would be as a senior likely a top 5 pick. He would be a very good pick for us as a positon of need. With that said, I really doubt it happens.

I'm sure if we still had the money, Connor would still want to go. I'd want to start on a team somewhere, rather than sit behind Jon Beason for the rest of my career.

Omar Gaither is getting old, his days in the NFL are definitely numbered now, and I'm sure he just wanted to play at Carolina since he's from the area before he retired.

But yeah, I agree, our LB situation isn't the best, and it definitely could be improved.

gaither is 27.

Zach Brown in round 2. He has some questions sure, but fills so many holes as well especially in coverage. He can cover TE, FB, and most RBs.

He also has a good propensity for shooting gaps for 3-4 yard losses when teams tried to get to the corner in the run game.

Those are two areas we were really bad at this past season.

But of course he isn't the only guy in this draft who can fill those needs so i will defer to Hurney/Rivera

Taking Kuechly could mean moving Beason to the outside. Yeah, he wasn't as effective there a few years ago but still its a possibility. Kuechly & Decastro might be the safest picks in round one.

There is no reason why Kuechly can't play outside and leave Beason inside.

BTW don't get too caught up in the draftniks saying Kuechly is the safest pick in the draft. They said the same exact thing almost verbatim about Aaron Curry.
