1st & 2nd round options

Its still damn hard to narrow the crop down this year in prospects. We could go a variety positions in both rounds 1 and 2 and its left us in actually a much more chill situation than last year at the top of the draft. There's a lot of interesting players out there. Right now, I've somewhat narrowed it down to a few atm:

*underlined my current favorite combo for the first two rounds

**updated 3/2

(1)

Luke Kuechly (ILB BC)

Dre Kirkpatrick (CB Alabama)

Janoris Jenkins (CB N. Alabama)

Fletcher Cox (DT Miss St)

Dontari Poe (DT Memphis)

Brockers (DT LSU)

Devon Still (DT Penn St.)

Riley Reiff (OT Iowa)

David DeCastro (OG Stanford)

(the wtf I didn't see that coming possibilities)

Whitney Mercilus (DE Illinois)

Nick Perry (DE/OLB USC)

Melvin Ingram (OLB/DE South Cak)

Courtney Upshaw (OLB Alabama)

(potential fallers)

Morris Claiborne (CB LSU)

Quinton Coples (DE UNC)

(2)

Stephon Gilmore (CB South Cak)

Jayron Hosley Esq. (CB VT)

Markelle Martin (FS OK St.)

Ronnell Lewis (LB Oklahoma)

Coby Fleener (TE Stanford)

Jared Crick (DE Nebraska)

Jerel Worthy (DT Mich. St.)

Vinny Curry (DE/OLB Marshall)

(Remaining round ideas)

Keenan Robinson (OLB Texas)

Ladarius Green (TE Lous-Laf)

Ryan Steed (CB Furman)

So, if you had to narrow these rounds down to only a select few (not necessarily 1 choice) who would it be?

I'm not asking who you think we'll pick...which guys do you really want on the team? Oh, and be as biased as you can possibly be.

There was an article by Joe Person of the Observer that said Janoris Jenkins is being kept on the Panther's radar. (Today, also found in PFT)

To me, considering his baggage, that suggests that the Panthers are looking at trade down options. I do not see us drafting him at #9.

TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION:

Based on the players you have listed, considering the mood I am in now and the weather conditions,

1. Reiff

2. Worthy

My Preferences were not listed.

I truly hope (if we don't end up with Claiborne) Gilmore will be there in the second round. His combine cemented his status as a top corner prospect. (His forty time proved he can play corner in this league)

My two options are:

Brockers

Gilmore

All of those second round options are good, thats why trading down in the first if at all possible would be appealing.

Love Jayron Hosley, R. Lewis, and M. Martin. Would love to trade down and have an extra 2 and 4th

Would you trade out of the #9 pick with New England and get the #27, 49, and 63 picks? Considering our situation and the talent drops in this draft, I think I would.

We would pick 27, 40, 49, 63. (going from memory)

if we trade down that far, we should get two first round picks

My choices are in order of preference in each round.

1. Brockers or Poe

2. Minnifield, M. Martin or Gilmore

Rest. Mitchell Schwartz, Demario Davis, Sean Spence, George Iloka maybe if he falls (don't know much about him) or that Safety from ND if he falls, BPA (best punter available) or BKA.

Gilmore is a stud, but he makes mental mistakes. He disappears, has bad games, then blows you away. big and fast--Workout Warrior? I am a Gamecock fan, so I am biased, but he scares me a bit. If they get his mind right, yesss.

It could be Poe and then Jenkins.

As someone on NFLN said about Jenkins, "we have seen this movie before, and it doesn't turn out well", speaking of his off field choices.

He could possibly be there in the second for us.

Brockers demonstrated he lack of work ethic with the weights and someone please tell me how a freakish athelete like Poe had such horrible stats in college.Something does not add up.He was only second team in his conferance.

    • I could be waaaaaaay off about Kon. I do fault myself into, to borrow a NFL phrase heavily "RAS" nerd on players, too much. There are PLENTY of athletic freak shows that are playing overseas(or Amazon delivery) cause they never figured out NBA ball. I can easily miss seeing the talent. Plus did he only have 2 dunks on the season??(is that for real??) I didn't watch over a few hours of duke, but not one point did I think "That Kon guy is a top 4 pick in the upcoming draft". IMO I still foresee Ball bringing the ball up, doing his weak isolation game and never even looking for Kon. That's his best trait according to everyone, shooting right? I do not see ball, bridges, miller or even williams making the extra pass to Kon for him to shoot a 3.  Then defense-wise, Im not ready to type the amount of questions I foresee in his ability for guarding NBA SGs or bench SFs for that matter. Not that NBA players care to defend, but still..... I just feel he's a bad fit for the current hornets, trades are taking place tho... Liam to me is a decent comp for Kon and he fell some, but was a 29 overall pick. Still around 13-21 was the good solid range for Liam and I thought the same for Kon. This is just a classic case of I need to see it. It add to this, Kon is like garlic. Ball is like sugar and Miller is like flour. Mix it together and chef Lee is not going to get me to eat that dish..... Honestly I don't know why Im this vocal about Kon. In past years I would be patience and not post and see what the kid has. The other side, insert classic white boy terms here- _____, ______, _______< etc >. Hornets do desperately need them. His crafty back door cuts, his willingness to stay a extra 2 hours to refine lees plays, keep playing with bruised limbs. I heard from many reports he's mentally tough and hornets by all gods need that. God they are such pussys.  I hope Im wrong and if so, I will give Kon his just props.
