Panthers interested in Safety Steve Gregory

everyone is better than martin, that's not a high bar you're setting there.

most are better than Godfrey as well.

or are you one of those guys who blames Lucas, then Marshall, and then have a new reason why he is consistantly such a horrible tackler in the open field. Yeah, he has potential....and if he gets to the reciever before he becomes a runner fumbles have occured but he is still one of the weakest S in the NFL if based off play (instead of potential)

yeah, we really need to upgrade both starting safety positions. no idea why they gave godfrey that extension, hopefully there's not a similar extension being worked out for martin but it wouldn't exactly surprise me.

we need a new starter, not a role player or backup

and no, you are not a special snowflake whose thoughts deserve their own thread

surefire starting quality safeties aren't exactly the most available type of player. drafting safeties in any round tends to be very hit or miss as well.

if the guy is an upgrade then that makes him a starter. especially with the defense rivera/mcdermott run, very often there are 3 safeties on the field (remember how much that bastard pugh was out there?), thus he may end up being a huge upgrade over pugh at least at a nominal cost.

as bad as our safety play was last season, it will improve significantly just from having our LB corps back. gotta remember how much godfrey and martin had to play in the box to make up for our poor linebackers.

    • You do, the guy who doesn’t appear to grasp projection.  as the entire board knows, I do in fact, take positions.  The position here I have taken is that Bryce Young is a weak bottom tier starting QB, without NFL starting QB tools, that we must move on from.
    • The OP for one. Asserting that people blamed Bryce for the loss in the title of the thread. That was not the prevailing sentiment at the time this thread was created. Very much a minority thing, I don’t remember but maybe one person if that, putting it on Bryce as the main reason. Troll thread. Did a good job too. Look at the pages.  Someone counting up the draft picks as 10 on offense and 10 on defense or whatever the number was, today or yesterday - of which the offensive ones were heavily 1s and 2s and the defensive picks were heavily day 3 and declaring that proof that the offense wasn’t favored like people claim. The obvious neglect we watched for two years. I spent time refuting that bullshit because someone needed to.  People saying we are bad horrible people and hate poor lil Bryce for no reason, as if it is a personal thing. Constantly.   Along the same lines is people saying we non Bryce fans would rather lose than have him play well and the team wins. That we are mad when the team wins   Point illustrated.
