Where Is The Steve Smith Extension?

Should they be forcing Steve Smith into a contract year at his age? I think extending him 3 - 4 years would be ideal. Let him be #1 WR this year, see what happens next year in Training Camp then let him finish his career out in the slot like he wants. No point in making 89 prove himself in a contract year when he already proved himself in 2011. It would provide cap relief too so I don't understand why a deal isn't done :/

Seriously though, they don't need to extend him until sometime after the draft.

I agree, we need to extend his contract for 4 years. It frees up cap space and gives him a piece of mind as to our intent. I don't want him thinking that we may release him and go younger. 89's the best Panther ever!

That is probably a worst case scenario. Even Steve has addressed the need to replace him as the #1....

Its hard to predict what SSmith will want to do.He plays with so much passion that the risk is he may wake up one morning and say fug this I think that a number 1 wr better be on our radar next year

Our #1 for teh next 3 years? I don't know about that. Defienetley a #2, which would help him too. Hurney needs to get his ass a WR and DT for christs sakes he's wasted enough picks on them. I don't like to bet on Gettis.
