Shockey Coming Back?

I have no idea where the love affair with Barnidge has come from he's caught a few deep passes over his 800 year career as a 3rd stringer. I'm not putting much faith in him.

I think he has the skills to be productive but has never had much of a chance. He's had Clausen throwing to him and then he broke his ankle. I don't think he is an all-pro or even a 'good' player, but him and Tolbert can replace the lost catches/yardage that shockey had.

If Panthers going to trade Stewart to Broncos, I expect Broncos to send us TE Julius Thomas plus 2nd rounder. Thomas is likely to be cut after Broncos signed pair of TE's Dressen and Tammie. Panthers wanted Thomas bad last year but Broncos snatched him up right before us. Thomas has huge upside, ex basketball player.

Very good blocker. He was very important to success in our run game. Olsen is pretty bad blocker.

Barnidge isn't really a good blocker either (probably average), because of this; the Panthers may keep Brockel to be the blocking tight end since he showed he is a capable blocker last year. I also wouldn't count out Ben Hartsock, but he didn't see the field much; if at all last year so there is not much to go off of there. He was a good blocker up in New York for the Jets though.

I think we will run less 2 TE sets with the addition of Tolbert anyway, so Shockey is very replaceable. Tolbert and Barnidge should make up for his 40 catches or so.

I don't know why anyone would want that...
