Of course you can't compare a college linebacker, no matter how good, to some of the great middle linebackers in the NFL. Just like you couldn't compare Newton to Brady or Manning coming out of college. But if you look at where each of those guys were at coming out of college to where Kuechly is at the same point in time, he compared very favorably. Does that mean he will be an All-pro linebacker in the NFL? Much too early to tell. But if you have to pick someone in the first round with great potential and a super pedigree, then you have to look no further,

I won't cry if we get Luke. I would rather trade down if the possibility arises, but Luke is a decent pick when looking at the overall picture (but so is Brockers, Cox, and maybe some others). I will just keep realistic expectations.

..... If they made a Keuchly Fathead, at least one would be sold

Truth is that when this all started I was a DT or DE guy in the draft. But I warmed up to Kuechly as I realized that issues with Beason and Davis. Still though I am not as big a fan boy as it appears. I just enjoy busting the Kuechly detractors as much as Panthro enjoys tweaking the kuechly fans. The reality is that I am still not convinced that we won't go DE in the first and think we will likely trade back if we can. Still It does pass the time while we wait for the draft.

So I wiil be glad to keep up the debate but honestly won't miss any sleep if we go in a totally different direction like CB. After all, we have more than 1 or 2 holes on this team at present and need a fantastic draft as well as more pickups in free agency in order to compete next year.

The only ones mentioning LukeWarm Koochie are the Luke Fanboys. The OP was just a DRAFT FLASHBACK

The original post was intended to bash Luke. Bashing of him is silly.

would have been silly to bash Beason back when he was coming out. Future not known. But people bashed the Beason pick back then as well....

I don't think it's really about Keuchly's abilities, because no one really knows. I think it's more of a backlash due to Kuechly Kraziness

No it isn't. This is an ongoing debate by someone who admits in his sig that he likes to argue. He fancies himself as a great debater so this is simply one more chapter in what will continue until the draft and likely beyond. If we pick Kuechly it will just devolve into past mistakes, Hurney sucks, and more of the same.

We've all had our moments, P55. Panthro isn't so special. On some level, at some times, we are all pots calling the kettle black. Sometimes it just comes down to who is more clever at the craft...Especially at this time of the year. It can become highly entertaining.

    • For Bryce’s obvious shortcomings (bad pun), there is upside to his game. This isn’t being a homer or apologists, but I like to consider myself fair in criticism.  He’s far tougher than I ever thought he’d be. I really thought homie would have been broken in half by now. I don’t know how he’s not, but he’s not.  He is prone to turning the ball over early in games which digs a huge hole the team is not built to come back from, but dude DOES come up with crucial first down in crucial situations. It’s NEVER pretty, but he just kind of has the shining. He gets bailed out LOTS, and the team still loses games because of him, but he’s a bit of an enigma. He’s a turnover machine that is clutch in big moments.  He’s a smart/elusive cat. He kind of has to be with his limitations. His audibles are almost always correct and he understands coverages. I don’t see him getting fooled too frequently. His turnovers are almost never the ‘damnit Jake/Cam!’ brand we have been accustomed to. They are ALWAYS due to his size/strength limitations.  Strip sacks that shouldn’t be. Picks that happened because he just don’t got that NFL arm. He is still prone to panicking and the wheels can and do fall off at a much higher rate than his peers.  The team is winning on the backs of the defense, running game and special teams… but they’re winning, and unbelievably 1 game behind Tampa. As long as this is happening and Bryce doesn’t go full meltdown, Dave is going to keep him in. He is not getting pulled.
    • This was a terrible podcast. A bunch of uninformed homers that had worse takes than the bottom 10% of the Huddle. I listened to a handful of podcasts this past offseason in search of new Panthers material since John Ellis doesn't do his pod anymore and The 4 Man Rush don't either. Immediately deleted it after the handful I listened to. Truly terrible.
    • The NFC South was so bad it sent a team with a losing record to the Playoffs that year. Wilks had players playing hard at the end but let’s not act like that was a good season. That season hurts even more now that we see in hindsight how good our QB situation was. We just didn’t know it.
