N F L P A Knew About Williams Speech Before The League Did

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Per Chris Mortensen (Sources: NFLPA had tapes early)

How did they know? Fairly simple explanation there. Scott Fujita is a member of the Union's Executive Committee and told them what was in the speech.

Worth remembering that Drew Brees is also a member of that committee. Brees has been doing his best "Sgt. Schultz" impersonation since the story broke. His continuing that tactic, even denying the "real existence" of the program and disputing that anyone was encouraged to injure opponents, in the face of audio that says things like "take out his outside ACL" and "test his concussions" just makes him look like a huge hypocrite. Hearing that he probably had this info even before the news broke doesn't help.

And then there's also the question of why the NFLPA, whose stated purpose is the protection of the players, chose to try and use this knowledge to protect those who took part in this action from punishment rather than acting in the best interest of other players who could have fallen victim to those tactics.

It's quite a line the union is walking on this one.

Just shows you how dirty the NFLPA is. They dont give a damn about players safety, they just wanted more money. Also its laughable that when teams would even touch Brees they would get a 15 yards but his team was trying to kill the other QB and the Refs did nothing.

Also now being reported that Gregg Williams came clean with the league early on about the stuff he was saying. Pretty clear Williams is one of those fake tough guys who talks all big and bad until he has to look you in the eye.

Still wonder if eventually, as Michael David Smith theorized, Williams will turn "star witness" against his former employers (assuming he hasn't already)

If that happens I could see Benson trying to sell the Saints again. He just bought the Hornets and could just say to hell with the Saints.

Brees has gotten himself into the poo now. Continues to maintain his ignorance, yet more and more facts show that he would have had to have been aware. This is when I would like a former player to come out and say that Brees did in fact know with some type of proof. Call him out for the pansy liar that he is.

    • Great article on all the Lil Canes attending their debutantes ball. Walt with a great breakdown of all the rookies, as always, and I'm a huge fan of his team coverage, he is truly a treasure, but as a fan of mixed metaphors and superfluous language which some might ignorantly refer to as a "run-on sentence" I never really understood what that mean or where to put the comma after a quote in the middle of a sentence, but holy poo Walt, this is a gem, "While there's a long road left in front of them left to determine whether or not they'll have that same success on the blue line again, the beginning stretch of the journey has been thrown a wrench, and the story on defense has been the emergence of up-and-comers forced into becoming lineup regulars." , bravo, take a bow, sir!
    • How do I activate said Krispy Kreme deal? I'm stoned man you can't be playing with me about this...
    • When the broadcast showed the two benches side by side during the last TV timeout, it was pretty obvious the whole operation is a shitshow. If I was the owner, I would play that clip, with commentary, on the jumbotron at MSG as I fired the coach, GM, President, the whole lot. Bring in your AHL leadership team, wholesale, to finish out the season and start from scratch next year.  Can't fire all the players and fold the season. But, hopefully decapitating the zombie will light a fire under the body and burn out the cancer of the roster. (It makes sense if you don't think about it...) There are obviously issues on the roster. But, you can't have the entire coaching staff completely tuned out with 5 minutes left in a 2 goal game this early in the season. And you can't trust the people that hired them to hire the next staff. If you trust your AHL GM/Scouts, let them run the deadline firesale.   ...     Please don't let the owner read any of this. Because, this poo is hilarous!
