Cam Has Slight Lead In Madden Cover Vote

Johnson and Newton are neck-and-neck as of Monday morning, with Newton holding a small but vulnerable lead. Johnson led by a decent margin last week, but Newton swung the vote on Friday when he released a video telling fans why he should be on the cover.

Now it appears the vote will go down to the wire.

The "SportsNation" announcement show starts at 5 p.m. on Wednesday on ESPN2, with polls closing at 5:45.

That means each player will get a chance to plead his case live on the air. With the vote so close, what those players say on the show could be the difference between winning and losing.

It’s safe to assume both guys are busy preparing their speeches as we speak.

On a side note, my vote system obviously has had no effect, so they are doing much better checks on the backend than the Pepsi voting systems did. This annoys me greatly, but I really don't have the time to put in to get a working rig going so we'll just have to vote him in the old-fashioned way.

Why would you say it isn't working? You don't think there aren't Lions fans doing the same thing?

If they were smart, why would they be Lions fans?

But no, I had a suspicion it wasn't working when I checked some of the responses I was getting back later in the session: they were null, which generally occurs when a server is trying to kill what it perceives to be a DDoS attack (which voting a million times over an hour kinda is.)

I may tweak it but I wouldn't count on it.

    • I mean, it's easy to say, "Morgan was Fitterer's right hand man, so he agreed with all the mistakes Fitterer made." Life and managerial structures don't necessarily work that way. GMs aren't perfect, and there are going to be hits and misses most every draft. Most would say that if you can get a couple of starters in a draft that you're doing pretty good. Even if X busts, there are still people in that draft, and an undrafted free agent, that look promising. JT looked pretty good yesterday. Calculate in the 2025 draft, which I think is fair, and I'm not going to complain. Where I think Dan has not gotten it right is overpaying a couple of free agents. and, sorry, I don't accept the "Panthers tax" argument because there is modest overpaying and gross overpaying.  I'm very much more critical of Dave Canales. He has to develop the talent that he is given. He also is responsible for his staff and personnel decision is on game days. I'm glad that he saw fit to get JT more involved yesterday. He gets zero credit for Hunter Renfrow, as should've never fired him in the first place, only to rehire him due to injury.  But Dan, I'd give another couple of years.
    • Pass rushers are spot that outside of the drafts elite typically take 2-3 to develope and bro is tripping in 2 games... this team SUCKS no need to be so dramatic
    • Learn to laugh more. The inevitable is on its way and if that was a high point for those people the there is lots more laughter ahead.
