To say he played well is not quite true but according to Rivera he was slated to develop last year not start.If you go back and look at his physical attributes and the rating the scouts gave him prior to the draft I think he played up to expectations. A third round UT takes time to develop.

I like Mclain, give him time to learn. If we can get Cox in Round 1 that will solve most of our D Line problems as we can rotate Neblitt, Edwards and Mclain. (Fua was AWFUL)

I think the fact that both our rookie DTs struggled is more about the rookie wall than about the individual players. It should give pause to all those who expect any rookie to come in and play well from day 1. For every guy who does, there are 2 or 4 more that struggle.

Meh - McClain was underwhelming last year but he wasn't exactly a top 10 first rounder either. I think that with a year or two under his belt the kid will be a damn good DT for us.

Some of you guys are too quick to throw out a rookie third rounder because he didn't come in and dominate games.

Also the other problems in the interior of our defense didn't do the DL any favors - just so we're thinking big picture here.
