I Just Don't See Us Taking A Dt Or A Cb Today

Of course a lot of that has to do with how our FO feels about Janoris Jenkins.

Look, here is the deal. At DT we just drafted two DTs in the third round last year that had some good moments as rookies. DT is notoriously the hardest position for a rookie to come in and dominate (other than QB). Ron Edwards will be healthy and will be a big upgrade at the DT.

If the FO was so desperate to get a DT we would have selected Fletcher Cox or Brockers at #9. I am pretty convinced that the FO does not view DT as a huge need at this moment.

At CB how soon we forget that we drafted a guy last year that was considered a first 2 rounds type talent, but had several off the field issues and an ACL tear that A.) kept him from participating at the combine, and B.) would not allow him to play his first year. Those factor contributed greatly in him falling all the way to the 4th round last year.

I other words we have already drafted our 1st or 2nd round CB. Why reach for another if you don't have to before that guy has a chance to develop.

None of this really matters because our FO will be going by their board. If the top guy on their board is an offensive guy we will select him.

And because of the guys who fell out of the first round that most had first round grades on I have a feeling that the pick is going to be O-line or WR. The only CB I can see us taking is Janoris Jenkins and even he isn't a guarantee because of his baggage. I doubt that there will be a DT that is ranked higher on our board than the offensive guys left in the draft.

And not to mention that many of the offensive guys like Martin, Glenn, Fleener, Jeffery, Hill, Randle,... all these guys are filling needs as well. We need to shore up our O-line, we need a potential future #1 receiver, we need a TE if we don't resign Shockey. So we would be filling needs with the best players on our board. You may not feel like it is our more pressing needs, but they are needs nonetheless.

Alright I am done... flame away

Tell me now what makes Randell, Jeffreys or Hill #1 wr option more then Gettis or Lafell?

Agree with you on DT. Disagree on cb. Even if Hogan is our #2, we have below avg guys behind them. In our division, you need 3-4 good cb's.

I agree with Teeray.

The Panthers kicked the tires on a lot of WR's. It would not surprise me at all to see them go in this direction if the guy they want is still there.

Once you get beyond LaFell, there isn't much on our roster. Gettis is an unknown, despite what many claim.

I could see them going OL and everyone freaking out.

I'm not sure why that would freak everyone out. Gross is getting old, Otah can't stay on the field, and we have a bunch of nobodies who will be competing to start at both guard spots.

If we could land a nice OL prospect at #40, I'd be thrilled.

Janoris Jenkins the only other second round CB talent imo won't be there when we pick. Word is the ravens are salivating to pick him up. So unless we move up I don't see it happening. I'm fine with a WR, If you can't find a way to fix a position of weakness then build on your strengths in my opinion. WR usually take longer to develop so think of it as Smitty insurance. Not picking DT or CB when both Cox and gilmore were available says a lot about our front office and what they see as a need. I think we will go WR in the second.

    • I would say the fact that Dave Canales insisted on a 6 year contract should tell anyone all they need to know about his potential job security under the Tepper's. No matter how much we have heard recently about how David Tepper has learned from this and that. This is still the same man who spent $43.5 million to buy and then immediately demolish a house because of who owned it previously.
    • Same lineup to hopefully finish this one out tonight.  Here's today's projected lineup from the Hurricane's official website:   Tonight's Projected Lineup... Forwards Svechnikov - Aho - Jarvis Hall - Stankoven - Blake Ehlers - Staal - Martinook Carrier - Jankowski - Robinson Defense Slavin - Chatfield Miller - Walker Gostisbehere - Nikishin Starting Goaltender Andersen --- Injuries N/A Scratches Nicolas Deslauriers Pyotr Kochetkov Jesperi Kotkaniemi Mike Reilly --- PP1: Aho, Ehlers (Staal), Jarvis, and Svechnikov with Gostisbehere PP2: Blake, Hall, Jankowski, and Stankoven with Miller I'm getting to the point to where I have to get away from social media.  The narrative is still in some circles that Carolina has played no one.  I just don't see how you can continue to discount what our opponents in the playoffs have done, either to make it to the playoffs or the clubs they beat to faceoff against us.  I know this is how Carolina always get's treated, but if we win tonight our record is 12-1 in the playoffs. 12-1!  Meanwhile, along the way the "talking heads" had us losing in every round.  Maybe, just maybe, Carolina's just that damn good. /rant Here's to kickin azz and taking names tonight. LET'S GO CANES!!
