I didn't see this posted anywhere. Let the speculation begin.

This is all just so Rivera can prove a point and people buy what he is selling. There is no way Bell starts if Otah is healthy come September.

Rivera is a provide it to me guy. Its not for show, the spot is Bells to lose.

Byron was our starting RT last season. Why does it surprise everyone that it's Bell's spot to lose?

I think the fact that Otah looks like an All Pro when on the field and Bell looks in over his head might have something to do with it.....

But Rivera is just doing his status quo thing. Otah will start. Just like there was no doubt Cam would start despite the competition that was portrayed

Byron had a few games where he looked distinctly average and on occasion decent, so considering most players make improvements from their rookie season he may be a completely different player coming into 2012. That said, he was our worst performing OLine player in both the run and passing game and picked up by far the most penalties.

It should be noted though that Otah wasn't any better in pass protection.

However over the last four games Bell gave up 5 pressures, 2 hits and 0 sacks, with only 2 penalties, showing marked improvement from the mid part of his season.

All pro is pushing it. He looks very good in the run game, but is no better at pass blocking than Bell.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
