I don't have a link (and i didn't see this as a topic anywhere else) but hall of fame NFL wide receiver Jerry Rice was just on ESPN ranking the top five wide receivers playing the game today. Steve Smith was the first one on the countdown at number five.

He played highlights of Smith's across-the-middle catch against the Bears to highlight his YAC ability, and then a deep out against the Vikings to demonstrate his ability to elevate for the ball, and lastly his first TD against the Cardinals to display his ability to burn NFL secondaries even in his early thirties. A graphic displayed receiving yards ranking him up there with Ochocinco and Donald Driver (and Randy Moss a catchable big name roughly four thousand yards ahead of him.)

Roddy White was number four, which was barf, but it was cool to see 89 getting some love from the national media.

Hate to say it but Roddy White is a beast. Reppin' James Island.

I'm glad Smith is gettin some national love, not enough people know the greatness. I remember that hubbub a few years ago when people were saying the Giant's Steve Smith was 'the real steve smith'. What hogwash

Roddy is a beast. We as Panther fans just hate him for where he plays. We see the drops, we see the lackadasicle (sp) play. So when he gets love, we hate it. If he had played his whole career at full speed. He could be one of the best ever. Unfullfilled talent.

And on the flip side. We have a player that has been a conerstone for as long as we can all remember. A player that worked and played like it was him against the world. Who is in the discussion of the games best. Two players with opposite emotional connections. Smitty deserves the accolades. He has earned them.

    • If we get to 4-3 do we make a sneaky trade?
    • Corbett should move back to guard if anything while being the backup for BC and Lewis. Cade needs to stay at center. That much has been obvious since last year.  Coker needs to be fast tracked to the lineup, preferably starting over XL.  The problem comes with Chubba, JT and Turk... 3 starters that the backups have arguably outperformed. I like JT's ball skills but I'm quickly becoming an Evans fan. Hopefully JT coming back will only affect James Mitchell. Idunno but Rico should be untouchable at the moment...he's on OPTY/MVP pace and Turk should NEVER be utilized as a NT again.
    • Looking at the TE situation, does Sanders get on the field if he can't block to the level of TT and ME?  I am 100% on board with Sanders getting Wally Pipped on this one.  We have plenty of WR's, I don't see what huge advantage he gives us over TT or ME, or even James Mitchel at this point.  Canales said when he was hired that the TE was a huge part of his offense.  The blocking displayed by the TE room Sunday was exactly what he meant. I also think the WR rotation ends up being....  TMAC, Coaker, Brycen, XL, Horn, Renfrow.  XL needs to learn to run routes, block his ass off, and be dependable if he wants to get opportunities going forward.  He's about to lose the Trust of BY.  Looking at the top 3 Wr's, I easily see JHJr passing him on the depth chart.  My money is on Renfrow being inactive most games going forward.
