...reputation among league GMs. The genie got let out of the bottle with the Williams and Johnson contracts. DWills deal took the top off the Peterson/Johnson negotiations and CJ contract influenced Avril's reluctance tosign long term. Now the top 8 picks (ex RGIII)are sitting out waiting for the offset language to disappear after Hurney gave in months ago.

Marty may be sitting at his own table for the next GM conference with a placemat for Mr. "F**king" Marty Hurney.

Who cares? Hurney's job is to field the best team he can for the Carolina Panthers. I don't give a damn what other GMs think of him.

he has not yet field the best team for the panthers, but i do like that when a deal needs to be done Hurn-dog gets errr dune.

If anyone on the team or in the organization is disliked for being a jackhole, that's a negative.

If they're disliked for doing their job in such a way as to make it tough for others, that doesn't really bother me.

What's the source on this anyway?

I can't disagree with what the OP is saying. I mean look at what we have done the last few years, we set the bar for players across the league, I remember when we signed DWILL and Gore and Forte wanted that kind of money. Even when we signed CJ, you don't think players were like, Im better than CJ, so I think i deserve more money than him. Or when we locked up Godfrey, I remember Weddle wanting a bigger contract than him. We sign our 9th pick in the 1st round and teams are like "no offset language", and now they got to battle agents for other draftees about getting a deal like Luke. But at the same time, I don't think GM's are upset, and if they are FUG them...

      lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

      Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
