Come on, Pat Y. Seriously?

Tom Sorensen writes about the competitive spirit of Captain Munnerlyn. Although he’s undersized, that spirit is what has made Munnerlyn successful. The Panthers are hoping to shift Munnerlyn to nickel back this season and start either Brandon Hogan or Josh Morgan. But I think it’s safe to say Munnerlyn is doing everything in his power to try to hold onto the starting job.

Two mistakes in 1 tiny paragraph? Josh Morgan isn't even in your division....

Munnerlyn seems to be the anti- Otah.

Otah had all the physical gifts and talent you could ask for. Munnerlyn is lacking in both of those area's but his work ethic and desire are everything Otah was missing. Even with that being said I think he is much better suited playing nickel back and I like that he hasn't just thrown in the towel on starting position.

No matter how you try to twist it, to say that an undersized 7th round pick who is/was starting at the second CB position is not successful is a blatantly ignorant statement. If anything, he has been so successful at everything he has done so far (starting from ST, working his way into the rotation, starting at nickelback) that he has gotten himself promoted to a position that he is finally struggling at (2CB). He is by no means not-successful.

That being said, we need a true number 2 CB so he can slide back down into the nickel and dominate from there.

    • Blowout incoming and the wheels fall off. Parsons will have multiple sacks, prob a FF. Media immediately starts saying the Bryce era is over
    • It's worth noting that we started playing something that looked like football after going down 17-0 against the Dolphins.  Up to that point we had rushed the ball 3 times and Bryce had two turnovers.   Then we ran it 5 straight times with Rico and he started cracking off some big gains and led to our first touchdown.  Another 37 yards of rushing later, Bryce goes 1 yard complete, incomplete, incomplete to get that field goal before halftime.  Then we committed big time to the run in the second half and played some really nice complimentary football.  The Panthers had stumbled on a formula, and it started with Rico being crazy productive.  Something they only learned because Chubba was injured and Bryce started that game so poorly they were forced to lean on Rico. Fast foward to Dallas, they essentially lean into the same game plan against the Cowboys and I think everyone was surprised by how quickly it started to look complimentary.  In my opinion the productive offense really helped the defense as well.  We played quite solid against a top offense. Finally we make our way to the Jets and Bills, Chubba's return.  You can't say the low scoring affair and return to ineffective football against the Jets was all on Chubba, they were indeed a better defense and so was Buffalo.  But the production difference between the two backs in both games was both visually and statistically obvious.  The bigger picture is the offense took a major step back as well.  They are other moving parts and it's isn't all one thing, BY9>Dalton by a decent margin at this point.   But yeah, Rico's vision and athleticism is just better than Chubba and it jumps at you.
