It can be effective with Cam running it but not EVERY DAMN RUN... NFL defenses are fast and they figure poo out quick. Use it more sparingly and for gods sake use JStew, he is an absolute beast. I know he's been dinged but he can break out if we don't give up on the run. Once JStew starts banging inside, it'll open the outside for DWill and Cam.

I agree it doesn't need to be the focus.

I notice other teams doing it this year. Is it a fad or something?

What other teams have you seen doing it? I honestly don't recall... but we may not be watching the same games...

I'm pretty sure that we're doing it way, way more than we did last season, and I'm not really sure why.

Niner's & skins are doing it but we saw it a few times last night from the Texans (I think)

I like what those squads are doing. They have Coryell style offenses in place with their own option packages fused in...and they use them wisely. The way the 49ers are integrating Kaepernick makes our former guys in Greg Roman & Harbaugh look quite the smart offensive minds.

But you guys are missing the biggest intangible Shockey brought to the team. And anyone who attended a Panther home game last year saw it all the time.

The first guy to meet Cam on the sideline when he came out of the game was Shockey, The guy who stood next to Cam the entire time they were on the sidelines was Shockey. Whenever an offensive timeout was called and Cam was meeting with Shula, Shockey was standing right next to him. Cam never had an opportunity to go sit on the bench when Shockey was around because he kept him on the sidelines and kept him engaged. TV timeouts, between quarters it was always Shockey.

I always thought the guy was a head case, too, but he showed some real maturity and leadership last season with Cam.

    • Let's pause a sec and rewind. The hype for Bryce Young before we drafted him was beyond anything I've seen in a long time. If you're trying to tell me now after all the hoopla about his ability to make those around him better and the comparisons to hall of fame players across different sports leagues that him taking the next step this year fully hinges on Adam Thielen then we're probably already doomed. Thielen is not going to keep any defenses up at night. He has good hands and very low YAC. We have 4 young WR's ahead of him with potential that need crucial development and we certainly need to find out what we have in them sooner rather than later because regardless of what transpires this season the QB room should undoubtedly be getting a hard reset. Those reps need to go to the young WR's regardless. Bryce needs to step up and take ownership of the relationship between himself and his young receivers. That's why we drafted him.
    • #Raiders WR wide receiver Jakobi Meyers has requested a trade, per a league source. NFL Network first to report   https://x.com/josinaanderson/status/1960060238213546417?s=46
