Heaven is real, says neurosurgeon who claims to have visited the afterlife

Wait wait wait, how can I experience living bw Brooklyn Deckers tits?

What kahakai is trying to say, as simply as I can put it - is heaven is what you make of it, and that the conscious realm tends to lend itself to an unconscious realm, relative to what you deem as heaven. The body can be in a state of non-physical existence (you're dead) but you can still perceive yourself as you want - weather it be in the clouds, with a ton of virgins or between someone's tits. Only when your mind realizes your body as you know it now ceases to function could it be possible to realize yourself in a realm perceived as heaven. It's really hard to go more 'layman' than that without getting into the science of it all.

A loose interpretation of this (in recent movies) is in Duncan Jones's 'Source Code'

Not convinced. Until I hear an lifelong atheist say they saw heaven I'm not convinced. I don't care if he's not very religious, he's still Christian and has an idea of heaven. So it's not in the least bit suprising that he had a vision of it. If I was hit by a bus and had visions of angels and pearly gates, then I would have to rethink my atheism. If on the other hand I had a vision of being at a Comic Con attended solely by Hooter's Girls, I wouldn't think that place was REAL, I'd just it was like any other dream.

I thought he says in the article that he adhered to the same basic beliefs other top minds in the science realm adhere to... He mentions the question of how there could be an "unconditionally loving God" being among them.

Sounds like he either wasn't sure or was atheist prior to the experience.

I think there should be two topics here, and they get combined in people's thoughts a lot whenever it comes up.

First, is there some sort of life/consciousness/whatever after physical death, defined for the purposes of this discussion as Heaven?

Second, is there an implied set of rules that you need to live by in order to achieve this life/consciousness/whatever, defined for the purposes of this discussion as Heaven?

If you look at it that way, is it fair to say that either answer for the first question is compatible with Atheism? I think it's the second question that gets people's hackles raised up.

For me, I believe the answer to number one is yes, And that makes me as smart as a neurosurgeon from Harvard, right?
