Eric Davis: JR does not make personnel decisions...

On NFL AM this morning, the topic of Hurney's firing came up and Eric Davis emphatically said JR does not make player personnel decisions...

Personally, I'm inclined to believe Davis and he would know better than any of us, or the local media.

If you watch the vid, Davis suggested that he still maintains a friendship with JR and knows him well enough to know that JR doesn't make player personnel decisions... he hires people to make those decisions.

Davis is not involved in the day-to-day operations of the Panthers, but generally this kind of behavior/management philosophy doesn't change.

So we've got Hurney declaring that he was making all the decisions and Eric Davis backing that up, but folks are still convinced JR is calling all the shots? LOL

Double

its comparable to attitudes regarding john fox... he's such a nice guy, such a "player's guy" that it's hard to see past the intense love and loyalty for a really really good guy to see that he's got major flaws.

hopefully this is a sign jerry is thinking with his brain and not his heart. the latter will get you in trouble in the NFL.

    • I swear Morgan didn't have 1st(#1 overall) or a 2nd rounder in this rebuild.......Then his first 2nd rounder that he gave up two 5ths for is now out for basically 2 years..... Football is not forgiving....
    • This. They better not even think about bringing him back if they are short on TE's.
    • MHS, You are missing Claudin Cherelus is a LB that's in the mix for the 4th spot. He's been here for 2 years and had a couple injuries. I mean he was a wavier claim and been here for evero system, just had bad luck when given a chance. Jon Rhat is the current leader mainly cause of he is the ST ace. But Id say, Cherelus has the same % to make the roster.  CB has the recent wavier claim of MJ Devonshire a 2024 7th rounder. He's got the good-great combine numbers but he's small size. Still he's in the mix for backup duties, in fact all the non-UDFA are wavier claims.  ______________________________________________________________   Dam shame about Clowney. I view this as a bad move. I feel clowny is well worth the 7.7, even as a backup. He played hard the whole year without help. I just feel he would have helped more than either DJ Johnson or Barno.  My only cope is he's 32 and at any point his miro-knee could force him to drop off a cliff performance-wise. I wanted to keep him around at least until the trade deadline and if no chance at playoff, flip him for a anything. NFL is a meat grinder, no love for locals....
