So you would spend a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick on something that "might" be broken because of a feeling you get from guys you've never met or if you have only briefly? Rounds where starting QB talent is fairly rare but starting O-line, D-line TE & DB is found on a regular basis. Positions that we know we need help in.

I'd draft someone like Landry Jones, or Nassib from Syracuse dependent upon how the free agent landscape changes between now and the draft. I would NOT draft a qb in the first round. But somewhere in the early rounds.....yes. First round we need to replace Gross.

You don't bring somebody in to compete with your franchise qb. You build around him and put him in positions to succeed. he absolutely was not "handed the job". the usual suspects were crying and gnashing their teeth screaming "sham competition!" when pickles and anderson didn't win the job but that was to be expected. you remember correctly, congrats.
