Whoever the new GM is, I hope he puts the next prospective head coach through in-game scenarios. It is just mind boggling how wrong Rivera is with his decisions. I was listening on the radio to the Panthers network and they were confused as to why we didn't kick the field goal before the half. Then at the end, they were like "WE CANNOT SIT BACK AND PLAY A SOFT ZONE". And what does Rivera do? Puts the corners 10 yards back. If the radio guys are outcoaching you, you've got problems.

The most sickening thing about the end of the game was that he made NO adjustment at all. Same coverage, every play, until they kicked the FG. He had like 6 or 7 chances to change it, and he did nothing. No guessing required by the offense. The dumbest sequence of playcalling/strategy implementation I have ever seen in my life.

Case in point--A 51-yard field goal at the half. He explained to the press that he did not do it because the wind was swirling. If my guess is correct, we probably had a 25% chance of hitting the field goal.

What did Einstien Rivera do? Throw a hail mary, a play that has about a 5% chance of working. Brilliant!

To make it even more baffling, when we got the ball, they called a quick out to the sideline for 5 yards. So explain to me the purpose for that play. If RR had no intention of going for the field goal, why throw the out? To get additional yards for a hail mary pass that sailed clear through the end zone? No part of that sequence makes sense.

He should have just taken the knee. Frankly, it would have made more sense than what we actually did.

It truly is baffling. And what I don't get is even most casual fans know what the situations dictate in regards to what call to make. The stuff he's deciding to do is like going for it on 4th and 15 from your own 5. There is a long history of coaching and statistics to back up what decision to make in any given situation and he almost always chooses the one that is most detrimental. I just don't understand it.

I do not see time fixing stupid. He has been here about 23 games, and has made numerous game management blunders. Go ahead and hire the GM and fire RR. Maybe the new coach can get to know the players/evaluate the talent in the second half of the season.

He built a super bowl winning defense and then to the chargers to once again build the NFLs best defense. Rivera is very smart when it coems to being a defensive cordinator is perhaps what I should have typed.

As a head coach, I do not understand any of his calls. This Sunday, always giving them the ball at midfield. I understand keeping it away from a dangerous returner but its pushing it a bit much punting it six yards and never placing any faith in your ST.

The reason for this is because everybody wanted Harbaugh and when we found out we wont be able to get him we all settled for the next best thing which we thought was Rivera. When owners and general managers make decision likes these they always hope for the best. This situation that we are in now is not the best and their is a good chance Rivera will be done coaching the Panthers.

I have a hard time buying that an owner who's concerned about his health and desperately wants his team to win a Super Bowl signed off on a head coach he didn't believe in. And then later on fired the GM he did believe in and kept that coach in whom he didn't.

It doesn't mean he hated Rivera, he likely was just not as impressed with him as Hurney was. I would want the owner to trust the judgement of his GM. If he does not than you problem is the GM.

I see that point. I agree. He seems to be reacting instead of attacking--more motivated by fear than by winning.
