The team after Jerry

In light of the comments released yesterday from Jerry:

Carolina Panthers Owner/Founder Jerry Richardson: “It has always been my desire that the Carolinas would be the home of our Panthers. Nothing has changed. As someone who was born in North Carolina and lived much of my life in South Carolina, I hope that there would be no doubts about my personal devotion to the Carolinas.”

What happens after Jerry?

I for one would love to see a Green Bay scenerio where the team goes public and sold to fans. After all, isn't there something to the tune of 65,000 PSL owners, who own said seats for life?? Anyone have any ideas of who would be next in line? One of his sons? Partners? Public?

I know he wants the team to stay in the Carolina, but the question is what about his predecessors? If they went public, I'm in....

What say you?

Not sure but I think this franchise and team will be much more successful under new ownership. We can sit here and blame every player and coach that doesn't work out but at some point the finger must be pointed at the person putting these guys in place.

Well, it's scientifically proven the best franchises are ran by the fans.

What if he work for him? And he writes checks for us? Should we shy away from criticizing him and take it out on another of his employees?

The reason the Panthers are so profitable and valuable is because they own their stadium free and clear. This is why the Panthers are one of the top 15 most valuable franchises.

Despite the fact JR would never leave the Carolina's - you would never move out of a house that is paid for to be a tenant elsewhere. The PSL deal he pulled of was epic and fans would never support this scenario again.

I paid thousands for the right to buy seats already. Why would I pay thousands more to gain nothing?

As an alternative to losing the thousands that you already paid? I understand that the team going public will likely never happen. But for folks like yourself who have already invested a considerable amount, wouldn't it at least behoove you to consider that over just losing it all?

In the end, I'm just hoping the new generation respects JR's wishes for the team to stay in Carolina.

Not me. Given the amount of $$ I have donated to this organization and the mediocre product they have provided for 17 years I wouldn't think twice about walking away if they asked for more $$.

My PSLs are listed at $15k total. No way in hell I even consider that.

Give me 2 years of playoff success and I might start to think about it.

    • I’ve rarely ever been more sure of anything than losing out — but how can anyone say with a straight face “Bryce hasn’t improved, but Canales has and he’s masks his flaws”. You have to be so out of touch with reality to put one way above the other when discussing those two.
    • Last night was the classic example of a visiting team just holding on through the wave of emotion a home team has at the start of a big time game. Bama’s first two kickoff returns really set them back as far as playcalling and allowed OU to dictate field position. The emotion of the home crowd fed into what OU was doing at that point, and it felt like Bama would not be able to overcome that.     Once the kickoff returner was told to fair catch every kick, the game shifted, as Bama wasn’t starting each drive inside their own 15. It was then that Bama was able to make some plays, outscoring OU 34-7 the rest of the way.  I think the last 3/4 of the game proves Bama was the better team. OU was just able to ride the initial wave of emotion to a big lead, but Bama held on just enough.  However, had OU blocked the punt on Bama’s second drive and scored a TD (vice a FG on the ensuing drive), things likely would have been different.  Anyway, Roll Tide!
