Who's puts the 'offensive' in 'offensive line'?

Which exactly why we shouldn't have released Wharton. Wharton was sketchy in pass pro, but he was one hell of a run blocker.

how much time does he have left?

amini may not be great...at least not yet, but he's definitely good enough to start. i can put up with one year of him considering the potential and natural talent he has.

we wouldn't have drafted amini if we had kept wharton.

the problem with starting so many youths is that we struggle early on. it flat out sucks when we are a fanbase with so little patience to begin with and then this being the 4th(?) losing season in a row. the good thing is, though, is that they won't stay rookies forever. these guys have a lot to build on and the most valuable thing that can be given to them to help them grow is experience which is what they are getting. that doesn't always work out, but you can tell how a player is going to be when put in that situation. it's not all on the field that it's seen. a lot of it is how they grow and learn from their experiences and the work they put in. with mcclain and i guess fua last year we saw guys that couldn't handle the job. mcclain got the boot and is now with his third team this year. fua is a rotational guy. bell kept his job, not because of how good he was last year, but because of how much he grew.

that's going to be amini next year.

the question is do you keep an average (at best) OG for the last couple years of his career, or do you move forward and allow a potential perennial stud a year to find his feet at the beginning of his career?

i like moving forward, myself.

he's a rookie starting on the OL,

except for a very few among even the very elite, they all look like they are on roller skates.

they get better in year two and three.

last year everyone was screaming about bell sucking. he did, but he was a rookie.

I get what you are saying, I thought Bell was ok last year. He had some bad penalties, but for the most part kept guys off Cam. Amini aka The Matador is lucky if he touches a defensive player during a play. The guy would've been a great bull fighter.

I think Amini will be fine.. Just as a guy from a Div 3 school he should not have been starting from Day 1. He had a competetion gap that he is learning from. He has some rare skills and agility that could make him(ahem) Elite... But that seems further away today.

Kalil was getting pancaked on the ground his rookie year and he played A-1 competetion in college.

    • Reasonable. I mean I didn’t see a clear path to relief this season myself. As I have typed already, I think the QB FA class is more interesting next season and that draft is supposed to be stacked as well. There just weren’t many options this year.  When you have Tepper to contend with you have to tread lightly around this unless you are 100% certain and willIng to stake your job on it.   There were a couple of outings that helped Bryce a lot in terms of  thinking maybe he can do this, and if you are a supporter you are giving them a lot of weight. You are likely to think just get him some more help and he can do that every week. Which I think Tepper falls into that category.  And the playoffs, division champs, regardless of the way I see that, the supporters will also give that a lot of weight.    And the big one, the atmosphere In BOA for that WC game, Tepper had to be soiling himself over that. If you pulled Bryce out right now you had better be right and your new guy had better make the playoffs and look good doing it or you will be gone and your chance to build your old team back into respectability will be gone too.  So here we have Pickett on a one year deal, and Grier and King. I understand it.
    • Well, seeing as we play the Lions at home this year, pretty sure that rumor isn't true.
    • Totally possible imo, I also caught that snippet from Morgan where he said “If” we sign him. The lack of competition says otherwise tho 🤷‍♂️
