Mars Rover: Surprising News

Curiosity's onboard weather station, which is called the Remote Environment Monitoring Station(REMS), has measured air temperatures as high as 43 degrees Fahrenheit (6 degrees Celsius) in the afternoon. And temperatures have climbed above freezing during more than half of the Martian days, or sols, since REMS was turned on, scientists said.

These measurements are a bit unexpected, since it's still late winter at Gale Crater, the spot 4.5 degrees south of the Martian equator where Curiosity touched down on Aug. 5.

"If this warm trend carries on into summer, we might even be able to foresee temperatures in the 20s [Celsius], and that would be really exciting from a habitability point of view," Gómez said. "In the daytimes, we could see temperatures high enough for liquid water on a regular basis. But it’s too soon to tell whether that will happen or whether these warm temperatures are just a blip.”

how about we just drop a big fat fuging water balloon on mars. if water truly is the beginning of life, we'd get a jump start on creating a new species. god who?

Lets send water, a male & female monkey, and Kurt Russell and see what happens

You know, call me crazy, but I really do not believe we have a remote control car on Mars. I cant help but wonder how you can remote control something that far away, yet I cant get cell phone service in Walmart. Its just one of those thing I have a hard time believing. I dont know why or what the benefit the government or NASA would gain from lying about it, I just cant believe it.

you don't think nasa's government-funded multi-million dollar cutting-edge tech signals could possibly be stronger than verizon's cell tower signals sent to your phone for 40 bucks a month?

    • Just a winner? He went 6-9 last year. Just because a guy got carried to the SB by elite surrounding talent doesn't mean much. How did Nick Files pan out after catching lightning on a bottle?
    • Hurts is an elite threat with his legs though. He's gonna stress an opposing DC a lot more than Brock Purdy.
    • Um, no, just no. Bills, Chiefs, Chargers, Ravens, Bengals, Texans, Eagles, Commanders are 8 teams that it's not even a debate, they aren't trading their QB for Purdy. Patriots, Broncos, Titans, Giants, Bears, Vikings, Falcons are 7 more teams with QBs drafted in the last 2 years that also would rather stick with them than trade for Purdy as they all have more upside than he does. Lions, Packers, Cowboys, Bucs are 4 more that would likely keep their QB's as well, age aside for Goff, Dak, and Baker. Panthers and Colts are two teams in the same situation, QB's who have both struggled and shown flashes to where the teams probably stick with them because they drafted them, but in a re-draft of all QB's, they probably take Purdy over the guy they currently have. Jags, Cardinals, Dolphins, are 3 more with QB's who probably have a higher upside than Purdy but come with their own question marks, so debatable if they'd take Purdy over who they already have. That leaves Jets, Raiders, Steelers, Browns, Saints, Seahawks, and Rams. Rams would take him over Stafford for the future of course, but not for 2025, and I'd think the Seahawks would take him over Darnold, but honestly not sure if they would take him over Milroe at this moment as they really like his potential and have him for 4 years really cheap. That leaves 5 teams that I see who would absolutely take him over their current situation right now, and a handful of others who MIGHT take him over their current guy, a far cry from your 20.
