Monte Kiffin as DC?

Whats a retred? But Nolan always has damn good defenses everywhere he is

A retread is someone who was a HC somewhere else and got fired for sucking. Some people prefer this because they have HC experience and could work out well with a change of scenary, eg Bellicheat. Others see it as a huge red flag, he sucked once, he'll suck again.

Can't see this group do Tampa 2, Keuchly is a tackler, not a coverage guy

Kuechly isn't a hitter......he is a everything else guy and that includes coverage. The plays are coming. There is a reason why when players have gotten picks that other Panthers have made reference to them looking like Luke. He makes them in practice.....just hasn't had any signature plays yet.

The ONLY problem I have is this. Monte's defense requires 2 pretty good safeties. We don't even have 1 (well, 1 that can play both the run and the pass effectively). Unless we're going to upgrade BIG time at safety, his defense most likely wouldn't work, unless we continue to sodomize opposing QBs with our front 4.

You're being too nice....our safties suck

Kiffin's Tampa 2 got exposed so badly on a Monday night in Charlotte a few years ago that he left the Bucs at the end of that season. He took it to the college level and guess what?

He implemented it at USC, which was supposed to be a national champion contender this year, and it was exposed again. Just like anything else in this league, give the other guy enough time and film and they'll figure it out.

No, thanks.

    • Yes, he's a tier above them, but you also touched on the money side of it.  With T-Mac locked in as our #1 on a rookie contract for a few more years, I'd much rather use that money that would be needed for DJ on our defense and develop Coker into our #2.   Especially given his contract situation as an UDFA, as his contract is up at the end of this year but we can keep him around for a 3rd team controlled year on the real cheap.  Which means we probably could get him to sign a very reasonable extension this offseason to give him a little more money while giving us a bargain contract for what he provides. DJ's contract is north of $20 million for the next 5 years, why pay that for your #2 WR with the needs we have on defense and you have guys like Coker, XL, and Horn on rookie contracts who very well could combine to be a serviceable 2-4 WRs behind a stud in T-mac? I love DJ and he'd be a great fit on this team as our #2, but the money side of it just makes absolutely zero sense, that's all it comes down to for me on this one. And no, I don't see the Bears wanting XL back in that trade, because they drafted Burden, who is essentially a better version of what XL provides, a player you want to get the ball into their hands and let them go to work.
    • I didnt see that many bad calls in the panthers cowboys game, but the chiefs especially in the playoffs were getting every single call they could get then the refs when it didnt matter would throw a call towards the other teams.  That I believe was the taylor swift effect.   But its crazy just thinking about how easy it is to change a game.  You dont need but a single ref to make a few close calls go towards one team over the other and in the nfl that is the game.
    • I don't think it's unrealistically blaming Bryce Young......to say has been a reason, sometimes a big one, in why our pass offense overall has been extremely week over the past 3 collective seasons.  I think that bothering anyone, is just being overly invested in some Bryce Young argument.  It's just a reality.
