From PFT

If you don’t like Cam Newton after watching him on Sunday against the Falcons, it says more about you than it does about him.

Nice to see a decent article on the Cam-bashing.

Nice to see a decent article on the Cam-bashing.

It boggles my mind why Cam has to prove himself so much as a QB based on nothing more than speculation and shalllow criticism that isn't across the board for all qbs.

Funny how no one is making much out of Luck's INTS.. Everytime one questions the obvious difference in media bias, they come up with some lame rationale.

In a way, I'm kind of glad Cam has experienced the hatred of the media early on in his career. That way when we are successful, we can ignore all the hype they divulge. We can really say we are doing it for ourselves, and could care less about what people think about us. Right now RG3 is living on the hype he's getting. When he falls, he is going to fall hard.

Read the article, then the comments. Some of the ignorant comments on there boggle my mind. One guy said something referring to Cam's celebrations then said he should be more like RG3 and not act like a 5 year old. RGIII falls to the ground and raises his arms after every touchdown pass.

The media has painted such a bad image for Cam that people just thoroughly dislike him as a person. Not saying he doesn't deserve some of the criticism he gets, but they blow everything way out of proportion. But I suppose thats their job.

He will barely be mentioned this week methinks

^This.

Think back to when we beat the Skins. If they hadda won, the over the top anti-Cam folks (Cowherd & SVP come to mind) would have crowed about it from the rooftops & half their show would have been just about that. As it was it was hardly mentioned

This sentence probably better articulates what I was trying to explain to the haters all season.

Newton played at such a high level as a rookie that maybe we should treat a step back in his second season not as an invitation to rip him mercilessly, but as a simple example of regression to the mean.

until he wins a ring some will never be quieted.

nor should they.

let that be his fuel. let them keep providing those mental bullets.

i don't know if i want him all that respected by those outside the panthers until he wins a ring.

for most, that will be the definitive proof of what he can do.

    • Damn back to 10th. I only caught the last 5 minutes but some of those 3's were horrible lol. In that close of game you can't be launching those many hail mary's when you could be chipping away from the foul line. I guess no one wanted to get in the paint and didn't trust the refs to give them the calls maybe? Gonna watch the highlights to get a better idea of the flow of the game
    • I agree.  The Big 12 is a good conference, and he is the swinging dick in that conference.  If Bill Self retires, that sets Kansas back a bit, and Arizona moves even further ahead as the best team in that conference.  Arizona can crush west coast recruiting with USC / UCLA no longer being relevant for LA kids, and Gonzaga not being able to compete moneywise.   If Lloyd comes here, he will be second fiddle to Duke every single year in NIL and recruits.  Not to mention the entire SEC and Big East for kids who want to stay in those regions to play. This is why I keep saying go get Mark Few.  Has proven he can do more with less from an X / O perspective but can also recruit All American players and compete at a high level. He's a god at Gonzaga, but for $9M he'd make the move as that's 4x what he's making at Gonzaga, and makes him the highest paid coach in the country.
    • Certainly not going to miss his constant whiffs on sacks and tackles.
